Warning On Current Patch
if you uninstall the current patch for any reason, IT DELETES THE CONQUESTS.EXE.
i don't know WHY it does that, but IT DOES.

I'm amazed you've had time to INSTALL it, let alone UNinstall for some reason.

sounds like the uninstall routine was not done very carefully. Since it obviously replaces the original (shipped) conquests.exe with a new executable, it should track the changes made, save the files that are replaced and be able to reverse the process when asked.
Obviously, the "BETA" in beta patch is ringing loud and clear....

I just decided to slap it in and not worry about going back. If I need to go back I will just install C3C all over again.
At least it did not crash so far. It is too late to start a new game, but I was able to load one that I downloaded from here, so it seems saves do work.

For Switching Between Versions:
1. PRIOR to patching, create a folder called 'Release' in the Conquests root folder .
2. COPY all of the root files (NO FOLDERS!) into 'Release'
3. In the 'Release' folder create a folder called 'Text'
4. Copy the contents of the Text Folder (conquests root folder\text\) into the 'Release\Text' folder
5. Install the Patch
6. In the Conquests root create a folder called 'Patch'
7. Perform Steps 2-4 but use the 'Patch' folder in place of 'Release'
6. To switch between them Enter the folder for the version you want to use, then press
Ctrl-A (select All),
Ctrl-C (Copy Selected)
Backspace (Go Back a folder)
Ctrl-V (Paste Stored)
7. Say 'Yes to All' at the Overwrite message.
8. Repeat steps as necessary to switch between versions.

Thanks Jesse, I personally will have two distinct Conquests directories within the Civ directory and see if that works, but your way would take up the least space.

What are the correct steps to:
1. Install on XP home as administrator
2. Run as non-administrator user
3. switch between versions?
Thank you.
