Have you ever stolen anything?
Once when I was 10, I stole a candybar from a local convenience store. Whew! Felt good to get that off my chest finally.
Everyone has stolen something. What have you stolen? Have you ever kept an excess amount of change mistakenly given to you by a cashier? That's stealing. Opened up a bag of something at the supermarket and eaten from it then left the bag there? Stealing.
Come on and 'fess up!

I stole three games (for the Adam Coleco! - ugh) from a toy store in the mall. I felt so guilty walking around the mall that I returned to the store and put the games back. Good thing because that system (I won't call it a computer) SUCKED.
When I was in high school, I pumped gas and drove off....okay I did it twice, but that's it!

Only form my friends.
And software companies, if you call that theft... er, and television/movie studios, too.
When I was young I stole a few G.I. Joe figures from a friend of mine. I don't know why, since I didn't even like those...

When I was a teen, I wasn't the kid you want to have. I stole many things....so many, I dont even remember them all. Let's see:
-About 20 Sega genesis games
-A playStation with 8 games (at the same time )
-Money
-Computer phone
-Weed
-Food
-Alcohol
-Car radios and parts
Name it.....
Glad I dont do that no more...Man....I really changed.
I'm an angel now.

From a store?
How could you have possibly taken all that without anyone noticing?

Easy. At wall-mart. The day before, I distracted the lady from the counter (while asking for info on games) while my friend took the keys behind the counter for the glass door where they keep the games and playstation. The next day, we go back, go in the breifcase departement, take a big leather bag, put it in the shopping cart, then we go the the electronics departement, I ask the other lady about some PC games to distract her while my friends unlock the glass door, takes the playstation, puts it in the leather bag, takes a few games (3 copies of FF 8 ) puts them in the bag. When I see him coming back, I say thank you very much and I head for the door to go to my car. When he sees me infront of the wall mart door, he just leaves with the leather bag with out paying and jumps in my car. I had a towel over my liscence plate so they couldn't take it down if someone ever tried to catch us. But no one saw him leave without paying.
Perfect plan.

Around here, either you pass your credit card, or the man at the gas station passes a card that he has, before the pumps start working.
a PlayStation? holy ****.

The gas pumps used to be "pump first, then pay" So you pump gas, lay the nozzle on the ground when done pumping, drive away.
It used to work too easily. Many of my friends did it too. After all, we were teenagers in school, with no job = no money.
Now that's impossible with the credit card or pay first policies. Plus the penalties are much higher now for this type of lawbreaking.

I stole a couple of toys with my friend at a supermarket when I was about 10. I got caught too .
Other than that, online music is about the only thing I have stolen. I did take a couple of things from my decommssioning navy ship, but we would have just thrown all that stuff away- so that's not really stealing . I may have stole a few little notepads from the other navy ship I was on.

No, I really don't recall ever stealing anything.
I have, mind you, once broken things that were not mine to break, and I still feel bad about that to this day (got away with it).

I have never stolen anything, but my brothers did, and brought me along... I was about 5 years old back then...
Do you remember those small things were you put in a coin, and out comes some candy? My brothers just melted the plastic, and emptied this thing... and it was during the day, just infront of the only store in town

I'd have to disagree with the cashier giving too much scenario, whether the law claims it's stealing or not. A transaction is a transaction, lack of information doesn't come into it.

Well, I used to steal cookies and chocolates from my sister - as well as she used to steal them from me too. Sometimes we just exchanged.
I've stolen my grandma's clipses (don't know the word in English. It's kind of like earrings, but You don't have to have your ears pierced) when I was a child as well. They weren't costy. I just found some plates of thich they were made suitable for my robot construction. I never managed to make it, though. You should be happy about it; imagine a dreadful powerful robot in hands of 5-year old boy Heresson...

Nothing material. I just hate stealing, and I wouldn't be able to steal anything from a store, even if 100% confident I wouldn't be caught.
At the same time, I have pirated software...

Didn't do it again (ok except for a few porn mags, hey, we didn't the pornshop of all pornshops that is tha internet availlable at the time )

When you walk into the checkout line, there is a tacit understanding between you and the market: They will add up the prices of the items as marked and advertised and in return you will pay them the total amount of those items. If they overcharge you whether intentionally or not, they are breaking the agreement. That is stealing and you would not be happy about it would you? Likewise if they undercharge you as in the example above, you are stealing.
Could a lawyer succesfully defend you against taking the extra change? Sure. He could say that you weren't aware of your actions, that you just put the change in your pocket without noticing the error. Now you would be a liar and a thief. Let's not play around with semantics here. You know in your own mind that by accepting the extra change you are taking advantage of the store by taking something not rightfully yours.
Read some of the German philosopher Immanuel Kant. His position on ethics is summed up in his "Categorical Imperative" : "Act only on that maxim whereby thou canst at the same time will that it should become a universal law. " Test each maxim by asking yourself two questions: 1) Can I conceive of a world in which everyone follows this principle? ; 2) Would I be willing to live in such a world?
