Classical city graphics in the making
Greetings
I've been working on a cities.gif mod for a multiplayer involving Carts, Babs, Romans etc; and ran a test with this file in a working scenario folder. When I chose the scenario it gave an error prompt:
Error: ERROR_PORTALLOCFAILED
File: D:\Ss\Smeds\32\Port.cpp
Line: 113
Stack trace not yet available in WIN32
I've been working on it as a PSD and then saved as a gif for the test... What have I done wrong, could it be something as simple as one of the pink transparents off? Thanks for your help

You've got the wrong colour table. The problem is, you can't import the original colour table, but you can do the following (tested in Adobe Photoshop, I can't say if it works anywhere else!):
Open your cities.gif file. Press "Print Screen". Create a new file and select "Paste". Then, copy the portion of the screen you need into the original cities.gif file. Save it the way you want. Et voila!
I've attached the file for you anyway.
There are two problems with this file, but I think they can be changed easily.
First of all, you should adjust the flag colours so City numbers and names have the same colour. Second, there is some grey outside the city. I think you can easily fix this by making the concerning parts of the graphics pink in the Cities.gif file.

Advice:
Delete the grey areas behind your cities in the gif file, replace them with the pink colour.
That will mak things look good in-game.

Wow.. thanks for the help guys, an I'm glad you like my Carthaginians. Everything's moving only really well now - and I'm learning a lot of the graphic programmers planned intrinsics
For instance - Don't know if this has been mentioned: but the top left 4x1 pixels of the flag body dictate your city size box and shield color + shaded version. The first three pixels from left to right are the city box and the top (base) shield; the last and (most sensibly) darker pixel is the color of the underlying, shadowed shield. Here's an example, sorry if this is incredibly old

Well, it is incredibly old , but it's for the better for everyone to find out for themselves.

Right on.. well, here are the finished graphics for our multiplayer diplo game on a Medditerranean map. Top panel is for the Egyptians and Babs, following is for Greeks and Romans, after that the Spanish and Carthaginians, and lastly the Gauls. There'll be a lot of heated conflict, storytelling, visual goodies and roleplaying outside of the game itself - so feel free to have a peak once it's under way (first session is tonight). Here's the thread
Cheers
