He,he, Makeo's behaviour was so bad last night Hydey dropped out of a game we were playing
He attacked Hydey, he's attacked me, he's destroyed about 3 Ai civs. He took one of Hydey's cities after the barbs got it. But is he a warmonger? Of course not!

I agree with Ming - get a grip Hydey.
Best story I heard about makeo was that berzerker, knowing makeo's reputation for war mongering, just attacked him at first sight of one of his units
There should be an interesting finish to this game. The horse force is in the field and makeo has been gobbling up the soft targets. Hydey's cities put us on the same continent and we're about even in cities, units and the key wonders.

Lol. Just name one who doesn't?
Seriously...i disagree. Berzerker is one of very rare players who respect his treaties.
However...i wont be surprised if i find a knife in my back one night

I don't even bother with peace treaties with berzerker, it would only be bying time till the attack... at least we're upfront about it.

Berzerker is a good honourable ally who met me first, in that game with makeo, made friends with me and then killed makeo's unit, no questions asked
My sentiments exactly - we live with our reputations.
I remain spotless and a superb ally.
I've NEVER EVER attacked unprovoked.....

Aw c'mon you guys, I'm very mild-mannered and undeserving of my name's connotations. And rest assured, if Makeo had enough movement points left on his horse (I believe he had 1/3), he would have attacked me.
Btw, unlike Markus, once I make a treaty I dont violate it except under very rare circumstances - especially not 2 turns after making the treaty

Once I make a treaty, I keep it. But in most games, it just makes more sense to attack first and worry about treaties later
And hydey... temper, temper...
People who quit games because they are lossing are just pathetic creatures

Ming I have a question for you.
would you be impressed if you started a game with 4 AI and 3 human players, you got a really bad start , not much land and most of it mountains and hills but you can handle that. You find that one of the other humans has a good start and the other one claimed a bad start, sooked and whined about it and then retired and came back in as the strongest AI, who happens to be you neighbour. At the time of doing this his original civ was in front of you anyway.
I have no problem with losing if Makeo had attacked my cities and crushed me out of the game ,I would have gone away content with the fact I had already beaten him as he quit from his original civ.

This is all my fault
I should have consulted Hydey before offering to makeo that he re-join in an AI civ.
Sorry son

Ho ho. Hee hee. Haw haw. Snigger snigger. Chortle chortle. Guffaw guffaw. Pull the other one, it plays "I want your land because I couldn't be bothered discovering any of my own, and besides, you've outresearched me and I need to catch up."

Hmmm, methinks Ming is stirring the possum.
In fairness to makeo, he did have me for a neighbour in his first civ. I imagine he saw the writing on the wall

I generally (but not always) play peacefully unless attacked, or feel that I don't have much choice. Heck, I've even been known to come upon one of someone's first two non-settlers with an attacking unit or an early unoccupied new city and ask for peace immediately, even in no alliance games. But I think that I'm going to stop making peace in games inwhich I have been attacked first. At least when the early attack was particularly damaging. I think it gives someone else too big of an advantage to know that they can take out an early settler of mine, and may well be able to get apeace treaty with me before I find one of his cities to be able to retaliate. I of course understand that having an archer pop up out of nowhere next to your capital early on can be a bit nerve racking, and may be able to overlook that. But take out an early settler and you are very likely going to be my eternal enemy, no matter what the power graph may look like later on. By the way, I should be replacing my copy of MPG soon.

Come to think of it Hydey was consulted on makeo taking an AI civ - I suggested it on chat and Hydey didn't object!
