Guilty as charged ... all too often, in fact!

I'll have to try that one.
Last night, I had Conquests running on my new computer, playing as the Dutch, and I had Play the World running on this computer, playing as the Germans.

Here's an anecdote of a recent conversation: (pathetic, really)
A friend is telling another friend (also a civer) and myself about some guy that didn't want to pay the Utility Athority for watering his lawn. He had a spring on a hill near his house and he piped it down the hill to storage tanks using the water pressure instead of pumps. The first friend makes the comment, "Like the Roman Aquaduct systems."
I look toward the second friend and say, "Well, I guess now that guy can have more than 5 kids.'

Speaking of aqueducts.. notice how them pesky citizens are using more water these days? In Civ 1 you could go up to size 10 without one, in Civ 2, size 8, and now only up to 6!

True story:
I negotiate real estate matters for large companies for a living.
I was on a conference call doing a deal for a factory building today, reaaaally boring, so I was checking out 'poly, and thus had Civ on the brain (like I don't all the time ).
Anyway, at one point the call heated up, and we were haggling over some pretty intense points. We sorta reached the limit my client was willing to go, the seller was getting pissed off (which I needed to settle down, hint hint) and I was trying to get creative, and I swear, I was THIS close to offering Spices to sweeten the deal. I actually said: "How about if we add s... (slight pause) ignage?"
Which, btw, made no sense whatsoever, but was the first real estate related thing that came to my head. AND, get this, it did the trick!! The seller wanted signage rights for his own reasons, and never thought to ask for them. My client thinks I'm a genius.
(Now if I can only get Bruno Bonnell to take my friggin' calls. )
Moral: I'm a Civ-addict, and making money 'cause of it!

You'll have your chance.
Client: "I really like animals, so I want the house and grounds to have lots of room for them to run around."
Rhothy: " Hmmm... You might want to consider adding the Statue of Zeus right, uh, HERE."

I think they already have. We need to conquer as much desert as possible so that when we exhaust our supply of oil in Texas the new resource will appear on land we own.

Smiley, I think that we have several sources of Oil here in Texas. It's just that we prefer to leave them 'unroaded' and prefer to road the supplies in other lands to keep ours from becoming 'exhausted'.
That way, when those sources of Oil become depleted, we can immediately road them and remain competative. The Workers are standing-by.

you draw out maps on graph paper to figure the most efficient way to place your cities (Civ1)
You actually plan war strategy while at work and then implement it when you get home.
You've given up trying to explain to your wife why it can take several minutes to find a place in Civ3 to save
You plan bathroom and snack breaks around the "please wait..." phase of the game cycle
You actually lie awake at night wondering how to defeat the equally large yet techologically inferior indians
Any amount of time spent on the Apolyton site makes you yearn to play the game even if it means spending two hours to hunt down the CD, clear up space on the hard drive and re-install it.
You wonder how to find time to play the game after the baby is born (just kidding honey...)

On your slow computer with slow internet, you play Civ while pages on Poly load, and read those Poly pages while the AI takes its turn.
