Any suggestions on how I can get the patch (no internet)?
I am in a situation where I don't have internet access ATM. I have to use my universities computers for access.
I will be moving in about a month 1/2 and then will have access, but don't want to wait that long in order to play C3C.
I bought the game last week and understand there are some serious balance issues with the unpatched game?
It's a shame I spent money for agame that is so buggy it is unplayable out of the box.
Suggestions? Is the game unplayable as it stands unpatched? Are the issues very serious?

Don't worry about it, most of the plagues only hit the higher levels - and even then, the conquests will keep you occupied for long enough (if, like me, you're stepping up a difficulty level at a time, starting from chieftain )
If you need the patch, bug someone with net access and have them bring it to you on CD or USB disk, it's what I'd do if I ever became stuck - or failing that, put it on your uni account (I assume your quota ain't too severe, my uni allows me 50mb ) and then transfer it CD-R or USB disk, if you can do it.
Or there's always disk-spanning software...
Anyway - summary - only serious on higher levels (emperor up)

I play on Emperor level.
So what are the Major bugs or are there any Major ones that kinda make the game unplayable on the higher levels?

FP is a bit of a pain, but apparently the AI gets paid twict for gold per turn deals, or something like it. Not something I know much of, seeing how the AI was always broke near me

The beta patch is 14.7megs in size. If it were smaller, I'd mail you some floppies with it broken up, but I don't have enough floppies to do that.
Maybe someone with a CD burner could burn the patch and send it to you. But besides that, or finding someone else near you that can d/l it for you, I just don't know.

I'll have to find a library that will allow me to burn files on a CDR I guess. I hope they let me.
I don't know if my local library's PCs have regular CD drives or CDR drives. I will have to find out.
I doubt any libraries would because kids would be coming in burning cdrs with MP3s all day. So I doubt I will have much luck.

If all else fails the game mags will have it on their cd's next issue, most likely.

and if all the options fail, well, you'll have to wait till you get access again, and by the time it happens Firaxis will probably be releasing the official patch, given that this one is a beta. I'm waiting for the official one.

Yes, this will be the best path, I think. You could even ask Internet cafes if they have a CD Burner and would let you download the thing.

I'll try Kinkos they will prolly charge me an arm and a leg though..my library won't do it like I suspected.
That or like you said wait for the gaming rags.
I am wondering if this patch is even worth it. Seems like the FP situation isn't better maybe worse.

Find a smaller local computer shop. Explain your situation and ask if they can help. I would prolly charge someone $5 or $10 CDN for a blank and the time. If you're lucky, you'll find a civ fanatic. If it were civ, I'd prolly do it for free.

I'd just call Firaxis and get them your address. I am sure Sid will be glad to drop off a CD for you personally.

Otherwise, you know, anyone stupid enough to buy a Firaxis product ought to just shut the heck up.
As far as I can tell, Firaxis has never shipped a product that was ready to ship. At least by third world quality standards. I don't know, perhaps somewhere in Hell these shoddy Firaxis products might be considered legitimate. I would rather the next editions of Civ come from some outsourced coders in India. It would almost certainly be a step up.

1) He has a point?
2) What exactly do you have against Indian coders?

... since he claims to have a copy of C3C and therefore a moral right to be here complaining about it and Firaxis, I would assume the copy was paid for.

Don't be obtuse, that was not the point that was valid. The point about the their track record being less than stellar. Civ3 started very badly, PTW was in even worse shape from the MP perspective.
Mind you I liked them fine, but it is fair to say they had many issues.

NYE you and I both know JT is just trolling. At least Coracle finally repeated himself enough and gave up.
As has been said many times, it is fine to make your points, but to go on and on inanely is boring.
