Common sense?

Yet people successfully sued the cig companies for not telling them it was harmful. *sigh*

Murad IV?
How willing are you to accept health and lifestyle advice from a man who drank himself to death before the age of 30?

No, he said that "getting totally stoned out of your freaking mind" was not inhaling. Not filling in your intern on her new position.
(you'd think that Clinton would be Ted Striker's hero. They have the same motto, "I'd hit it."?)

We've known about the dangers of tobacco and coffee for over a hundred years(that I know of), in addition to the health benefits of eating more grains/veggies etc and limiting the amount of meat in one's diet.

I live at a university dorm. I'd never take advice from anyone if I disrespected the views of the drinkers.
It's like I always thought:
You can give people mountains of evidence, but if it conflicts with their beliefs (and many people believe their peers to know what's right) then you're misdirecting your effort.
I say prevent cigarette supporters from reproducing (steralising drugs?) and wait 'til they kill themselves off.

Anyone who has been around a heavy smoker knows what Jame I said was true. What we did not know was that smoking caused cancer.

I believe what they smoked back then had more poisons too, than today, though they are very poisonous today.

You dozy bugger. There's a massive chasm of difference between your average youthful binge-drinker and an astonishingly self-destructive alcoholic who kills themself before the age of 30.

Point 1:
You're right in that regard but both sets of people are drinking themselves into early graves. Some graves are merely earlier than others.
I am concerned about the mental health of my fellow residents, but I am not concerned for what they and their ilk do upon themselves. I worry though that a potential prodigy may be swayed by the current system, and lack of a strong sober rational element.
People (other than me) have this social strain, they like to form in groups and do what their peers do. I am afraid that this strain has caused a mass revolt from rational thought, and want to bring rational thought to power.
Don't blame me for being the Devil's advocate (Though by above doctrine you will be obliged to).
Point 2:
My life's goals, in order of priority:
#1. Ascertain knowledge/wisdom.
#2. Protect all allies.
#3. Destroy all enemies.
I, in pronouncing myself as a warrior of sober thought, have casually cast off valuing such activities as Inebriation and Carnal pleasures. Of course, I'm not against having allies, but I'm not after girlfriends in such a sense.
You have a problem with my life's choices, sir? Well thankyou - it works both ways.

Enigma, your top priority should be breeding like a rabbit (without reproducing), but hey.
Plus, the tendency to smoking is not hereditary, so sterelising drugs would have no effects.

I don't have the remotest problem with your lifestyle choices. Only one of us is proposing the eradication of opposing lifestyles, and it ain't me.
I've met quite a few people like you on the internet. The trouble is that it takes some time before I work out whether their behaviour (one part asceticism to twenty parts narcissism) is due to a dysfunctional response to social failure (or fear of social failure), or if they're genuinely aesthetes/hermitics. It's almost invariably the former, however. If it's the former, I hope you review your lifestyle and make a few changes.
If it's the latter then go with your choices, be happy, and don't be a pillock with the lifestyles of others again.
