Hey, this is all sorts of cool--I'd like to join next round, if possible, and I've got an idea or two that I'll go ahead and throw in just to confuse you.

For the custom cars, a stat system something like this:
Top speed (self explanatory)
Acceleration (how much speed can go up/down in one turn)
Handling (how many spaces left/right car can move in one turn)
Durability (how many collisions car can take before reducing driver to flaming jelly)

Where each of the four stats gets a numerical value depending on how the player spends their "points" (cash money? hmm...), and some stats are more expensive to raise than others. For example:
Top speed would cost two
Acceleration would cost five
Handling would cost four
Durability would cost three

Such that a person beginning with 40 points would end up with something along these lines:
TS: 10
A: 1
H: 2
D: 2

And then the racers could get extra points by winning/placing, allowing them to pimp out their cars even more. UNFORTUNATELY, this leads to a slippery slope, so race rewards may not be the best system in the world.

Good? Bad? I thought it might work.

J - current position; speed 5
J - next position; speed 6. Say, you order break-left.
J - final on-track position; speed 5. The best you could do is break-left again, but there you only have three spaces to go and then it's gravel for you.

So, believe it or not, it would actually be in your interests for rah to ram you.
