as they proved in the 2002 world cup
btw the garman team of 1942 would have been amazing (assuming no ww2), since they had the best austrian players in their team as well after 1938, and austria were pretty good back then.

Germany could not possibly win, for they were completely unequiped to deal with missiles. France would have air superiority from the beginning, and could use that to destroy German communicationsand support, so that the German army would be isolated, and easily defeatable. Nukes do not have to be involved.

That can't be serious.
France's army, believe it or not, is currently one of the most modern armies in the world. Their tanks, their planes, their training, all their weapons are MUCH better than Nazi's german.
Now, taking the topic to where it should be from a beggining, football,it's a much harder question. On one hand France has Zidane, Henri and a lot of very good players, on the other Germany is... well, she is Germany, and you know what Valdano said about football:
"A game where eleven men fights against other eleven mens and germany wins"
So, it's very difficult to say

What you guys are missing out on is that France would be unable to use their weapons before they surrendered.

I know. Sad really. Without France, there'd be no United States. Oh well. France is our third largest foreign investor. They directly employ three quarters of a million Americans. But what the hell, let's just hate on them.

I love it how the leftists lose any shred of a sense of humor whenever someone mentions France.

It's not funny anymore. When I was ten I laughed at French surrender jokes. Okay, laugh at other things, yes those bastards smell. Yes they're unbelievably arrogant......
But the whole surrender thing has grown really old, really fast. Should I actually list France's great military history? (beats your fricken history in any case)
This is like jokes about GWB being unable to pronounce words properly, that went out in 1990 with his dad!

Nukes, airforce, body armour, effective tanks.
At the risk of being monotonous, I side with the French

Germany 1942 would have problems against Iraq 2003.
And team "Germany 1943" would win the team of "Germany 1942".

How about this one: The year is 1939. Transfer the German army to Canada. Hitler decides to invade the US. Who wins?

 @ spiffor
France's military may be better, but as Spiffor pointed out in another thread, it was better in WW2 as well. It was just in the wrong place.

He would do better trying to go after the Soviets, the American civilian population is a lot more armed than the average European civilian pop.

Are you somehow saying 1939 Dakotas, Monatana, Upstate New York, Minnesota, et al is somehow not a signifiagntly more armed population than Germany would face otherwise?

Quite frankly. I hope that this year will see less French bashing than usual. Because, quite frankly, it is quite pathetic. In fact it is very sickening. Now if only there was some kind of truth to it. But there is not. Everyone knows that the French are one of the most cultured, well educated and most friendly people on earth. Of course the there is the history of France, especially the military history, which strangely people still think is the foundation of a nation's greatness. It just strikes me as perverted that people will not think that enough sacrifice has not been brought to bear in the First World War. After all the main function of war is to unite the nation. There is in short no reason in fighting further wars when the nation is united, unless, of course those wars will help you pay for the bill for past wars.
The main problem is, I guess, with the Anglo-Saxon psyche which is greatly predisposed to militarism, which is why they have always regarded the Germans in a high regard. the next problem is that France has not followd the usual doctrine that nationalism is a current luxury only enjoyed by the socalled 'strong'. This is of course madening to the people who decide the discourse, because of course the 'strong' would very much like that everybody dance along to their tune.
However what is the worst thing about this whole anti-French feeling being purported by the weakminded is that it is mainly directed at the lower segments of society. The rich, of course still ferociously consume the quality wine, food, clothing, and litterature made in France. As such the rich seek to instill a nationalism based on negativity while, they themselves find no reason to submit themselves to such low behavior. Of course this makes sense because it is of course madening for the poor that the rich should enjoy everything that is good in life, while they themselves are relegated to fast food and hip hop culture. Thus the poor feel empowered by this negativity directed against a nation, which, as far as I am concerned, is only guilty of placating the tastes of the rich bougousie across Europe and America, and the the elites of the third world. How pathetic and hypocritical indeed.
