Actually there is a very good reason to be critical of France. Well, not exactly France, but how French culture has in many regards achieved a truly imperial status, when it comes to defining and at the same time sanctioning the rich bourgousie across the world. The problem with the current discourse is that is, as stated mainly employed in a fashion that seems to me is very much designed to prevent class warfare, and instead give primitive nationalism a bone.

Maybe you should try and find a way of moving that set of dick and balls from your forehead and putting them between your legs, before you lecturing people.
I understand it was a joke. A joke that's been repeated about a hundred times. It's boring. It's irritating. It's wrong.

If its boring, don't listen to it . If it's irritating, don't listen to it. How is it 'wrong'?

How do you reach the conclusion that the Anglo-Saxon psyche is greatly predisposed to militance?

WW1:
British and French shoot, Germans duck
Germans shoot, British and French duck
Americans shoot, everybody ducks.
It is a great misconception that Italian tanks were of inferior design during WW2. In fact the Italian tanks were the only once to have 6 gears as standard. One forward and five for reverse.
Any more nation-bashing war jokes? Hear about the one where Iraqi soldiers surrendered to a US journalist?

How do I reach the conclusion that the Anglo Saxons are predisposed towards militarims? Well one thing is for instance Baden Powell. He was a spy for the English during the Boer War. Later he created the Boy Scout movement, which in turn became a model for many boy scout organisations, including the Hitler Jugend. The second thing is the whole elitist educational system developed by the Anglo-Saxon educational system. For instance Eton, where military training has a big role to play. But also other schools were militarized, including Oxbridge. The perfect expression of this is the movie "IF", were British bording students violently rebel against the overly militarized and religious educational system.
Also you can see it has been the elitist Ivy League universities who have defined and made the rules for such sports as basketball, American football, and so on. Today it seems to me that this, while is is of course "only sports", has served the purpose of making militarized anglo-saxon culture a key element of the American educational system. People often forget that this key element is the result of a top down influence, and that the recent excursions towards multiculturalism is perhaps a reaction towards that dominance.

France's military capabilities were NOT better than Nazi Germany's in WW2. They had more tanks, yes... but they were poorly deployed and much more inferior to German tanks... same with aircraft... small arms... and artillery.

I can only forgive you if your English heritage leads you to hate the French. We love our French heritage, not because of hatred toward some foreign tribe, but basically because it speaks about the French; this attitude is sometimes named arrogance.

As there were complaints from dedicated French bashers, that French bashing was not funny when it was not answered in kind, we have established a permanence to provide this necessary service.

During WW2 my grandfather was mostly in Africa and the Middle East, so most jokes were against the Italians botched efforts.

Again, as Spiffor noted, some of the French tanks were better. And the poor deployment is what killed them
