I see everyone has already said what I'm thinking. Try blaming all their woes on the Great Satan and Zionists now!

Okay, hypothetical situation here.
A big meteor is going to hit ****** (insert name of country unfriendly to the USA here). Big enough that it could kill hundreds of thousands because its going to land in ***** (insert the capital of the unfriendly nation here)'s back yard. Damage is going to be massive, but contained within the country.
Would (not should) the USA try to prevent the impact?
Now imagine that they did prevent the impact and had saved the lives of hundreds of thousands. How long would it be before the USA returns to being "The Great Satan"?

quite soon, i'd imagine.
i've often thought what would happen if the US staged an alien invasion, leveled a few major cities (at least 1 US, i guess), and then defended every nation in the world, under the banner of humanity.
but i think the muslims would still hate us.

4 months.
That's the average attention span for any population concerning major political issues.

99.99% of any population are just sheep willing to be led (albeit grudgingly in some cases). This is something that politicians understand and exploit.
