See also the mention of Cassoulet above.
these folks are just trying to dispute the grand truth that "The South" automatically means the American South, just as they think "The Civil War" could mean something other than the conflict in which Bobby Lee and US Grant took part.

I posted the Cassoulet remark only to point out that this forum is international, and not American. And as such, relative terms should be international, and not American. Had I been still living in Germany, I would have posted something like "Swiss fondue"

Fried Chicken and some nice BBQ ribs. Though BBQ pulled pork sandwiches also hit the spot. Have that with some sweet tea and I'm set .

I Totally agree with your remark!
I do love Southern Cooking, my Favorites would have to be Country-Fried Steak, Fried Okra and Sweet Tea.
As for GRITS

Probably my favorite thing are those little fried pies. The only good thing about one of my relatives dying is the certitude of fried pie after the funeral.

I'm wouldn't touch that line with a 10" pole, even if I had one.

We forgive you for your momentary lapse into poor taste, Tiamat.
Cause we know that bad taste is not normally part of your divine character.

I'm not too big on the chicken fried steak, but maybe Denny's wasn't the place to try it. Mother (bred and raised in Kentucky) hasn't made CFS in probaly 20 years, so I don't remember how it's supposed to taste.
