Three Thief Previews
Posted @ 7:58 - Update by Despot | Discuss it.
Thanks to Blue's, we have links to three new previews of Thief: DS. One from 1Up, one from GameSpot, and one from XBox.IGN.com. A few details about the changes in mission structure are included, apparently there is still a lot of traditional sequence of missions, but much of the activities handled by the Buy menu are now interactions that take place in the world. "Body-awareness" is another mentioned feature, which should add quite a bit to the Experience. Oddly, how the lockpicking interface works on the PC isn't explained.
Best of all, there's word that the game is in its alpha stages--complete, but in need of testing and debugging. The Spring 2004 release date is looking quite feasible.

I'd like to see two types of sci-fi games made:
1) A space adventure games with different modes. Space is like X-Wing or Wing Commander. But you could also land anywhere on any planet or moon and drive around in an ATV, exploring, mining and occasionally blasting things with your built-in cannon. In cities, you click on different exit points to go to different parts of the city. In hostile situations (e.g. breaking into bad-guy strongholds or boarding enemy spacecraft), the game becomes a first-person shooter.
2) My other idea is a roughly Civ-like game, where the planetary monarch has died without an heir leaving an empty thone for the dukes and duchesses (i.e. the players) to fight over. Combat takes place with space, air, land, sea and undersea units--and these can be grouped into three sizes. For example, on land legions have about 10,000 troops each. Smaller are the raiding commando and units and the corresponding guard units of about 100 troops each. Then their are the individuals: spies, scouts, saboteurs, assassins, and political, economic, religious, & military rulers. As duke, you can cede as much power to your supporting government as you wish...for example, if you don't wish to bother yourself with military strategy, you can turn it over to your Minister of War. If you don't wish to determine which noble gets appointed to what cabinet post or fiefdom, you can turn that task over to your Chancellor.

Colonization II.
Also, an FPS game that combines Half-Life's great indoor environments and use of scripted events with Halo's great outdoor environments and weapon balance.

A proper naval warfare simulation and a decent Napoleonic real time battle game (Waterloo and Austerlitz sucked).

I'd like to see an updated version of Final Fantasy III for computer; improved graphics, etc. Although I'm sure Square would find some way to ruin it.

Blasphemer.
The Monkey Island Games are from LucasArts, not Disney. You're thinking Pirates of the Caribbean, I bet.
Anyway, the Monkey Island games all rock. Even MI4 was great, though the 3D interface was tricky and many didn't like that aspect.

In addition I want to see an RPG in the far future where you have the oppertunity to travel to many different planets, but of course, you don't have to go to most of those planets. The main story can be accomplished on like 3-4 planets, but there will be at least 10 for you to go and do side quests on. Kind of Star Wars: Kotor, but with about 10 more planets where you can go at your leisure .
In addition I want to be more dialogue based like Planescape: Torment and less action based. Though there will be some action (shooting... wooo )

And a reasonably intelligent AI, and a system of planetary improvement management that wasn't so convoluted, and tactical battles where tactics actually mattered and where the graphics weren't so horribly blocky, and something to make it so the game wasn't so laboriously slow...
Hmmm, have I made my ire at Rebellion clear yet?
The only innovation Rebellion had that I thought worthwhile was the the character missions. That, and the concept of planetary loyalty based on propaganda and one's own actions. So it was realistic that a world would become angry with a side that repeatedly bombed it, or used a Death Star to annhilate a neighbor.

Oh, and shielded fighters where their shields actually made them tougher to destroy in line with their increased costs.

A game for girls to play together on their console or computer. Something social, that they'll enjoy.
Fallout3 or Arcanum2. I want it to feel the same, but with 3d technology instead of 2d one, similar to Dungeon Siege (much more graphical flexibility in 3d games, which can only fit such a varied game as Fallout3)
Freelancer2, whith a dynamic universe, that you can actually affect (to make the "sandbox" experience interesting once you explored everything).
Xwing 3: gotta love a real simulation of spacefilght, instead of an arcade piloting.
And obviously Civ4, in which there has to be in-game rises and falls (so that the "eternal China syndrome" gets to be actually a challenge rather than the obvious)

I would like a new Civ-style game. But not another Civ game. Civ I, II and III were basically the same game. I would like a new game (that is, with different game mechanics), but with the same theme. In other words, I would like a new spin on the same theme. Europa Universalis is a good example. However, a game of EU is too damn long!

A game based on the Destroyer action and adventure series of novels. I can imagine Remo and Chuin having an argument during the cut-scenes.

Civ 4- done correctly . I don't want another game like civ3. I want them to break some new ground. Yes that's what we said civ3 should be. But really they didn't break any new ground in terms of programming. They just put some stupid rules in
Fallout 3.
Baldur's Gate 3
X-com. The original, but updated with better graphics. I would want gameplay to be very similar though. No need to fix what isn't broke.

monopoly 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1
Actually, I think it would be cool if they revamped monoppoly. And not like another stupid simpsons or star wars, or star trek, or harley davidson, or any of the other corny ripoffs that they do with it. I thnika that they should make a new monopoly. Start a revolution for al of us intellectuals. But seriously, a few new twists, and properties. Think about how awesome thta would be. WHat would ou add to a new monoply game, if you could? A new to conquer the world of capitalism!
