Yep, but I'm dreaded to think it's the only girl-fit game out there. I'm sure a beautiful puzzle-game, à la Myst, with the need for a good cooperation between players would just be great for them.

They have shopping and joint trips to the bathroom. We have computer games, and thus there is balance. Mess with the subtle equilibrium at your own peril!

I think on problem is that game designers, being vastly male, haven't a clue what women want in a game.
Give them a game that involved a lot vicious backstabbing, playing mind games and having sudden and rapid changes in mood. Right up their alley.

Does no one else thing X-com needs to be remade?
It still is one of my most favourite games of all time.

X-com would be O.k., but I think they should revamp goldeneye on the gamecube. Not like a stupid perfect dark thing, that game just sucked, but take the old goldeneye, and add on a a lot more levels, and maybe give some new weapons, and more characters, and stuff. And then something superficial likethe graphics could also improve along with something relavant like the gmaeplay.

I would love to see XCom remade. It just isn't the same game without base management, where your soldiers have to fight for their lives and find enough stuff to sell to pay for their monthly wages.

But at least they spent the resources to allow you to play turn-based as well. And different weapon types that were suited to one play-style or the other.

Could use the same engine for a really great world or national politics game, no?
And therein is the problem - the reason Boris's game wont fly is the same reason diplomacy is always deficient in strategy games - too hard to get AI to do this like a human. And most games bread and butter is SP, not MP. (even RTS get alot of their sales from casual SP players, I think)

I think a cool game would be a game in which you live out the life of a celebrity. It oculd be like Behind the music the viseogame. It would just be like you have to make a buch of decisions, like who to have sex with, what drugs to do, how drunk to get before you frive, where to pee, what to snort, how many strippers to marry, if you go to rehab, and when you beat people up it could be like Mortal Kombat!

Yes I played it a bit. It doesn't fit the criteria in my post UR quoted since it is very unlike the earlier games. As Skanky alluded to earlier, base management was, uh, minimised.

There's a decent real-time derivative called "Monopoly Tycoon". Sort of a light-weight "Capitalism".

Lots of people. So far the results have been...disappointing.
The latest CGW refers to "Silent Storm" as a spiritual sequel to X-Com. Flawed, but really good nonetheless.

When I think back over the hundreds of games I've played, they seem to fall into two categories:
1. Games I really liked, and would like to see sequels for or thematically similar games.
2. Games I wished had been done better, or would be re-done better.
I'm glad to see, for example, the return of "The Bard's Tale" after its long hiatus, and I think they're remaking "Wasteland" (tho' I'm not sure). Both games are nigh on 20 years old. I'd welcome a genuine sequel to "ADVENT" for that matter.
Sometimes both, as when one game in the series is great and the rest aren't.
Anyway, from category 1:
Dungeon Keeper 3 (cancelled)
Majesty 2
Civ 4 (planned)
HOMM 5 (planned0
GTA 4 (planned)
Starflight 3 (I wish)
Magic The Gathering 5th+ Ed (single player)
a series of games a la Circuit's Edge (story-heavy cyberpunk RPG done in collaboration with real writers),
And many more!
From category 2:
Space Bunnies Must Die Again! (great concept, lousy execution)
Black and White 2 (one of the most interesting games I didn't play very much)
Blood 3 (great sense of humor, first one was REALLY hard, second one was REALLY buggy)
And again, many more.
[ok]

Whatcha gonna do? We like what we like. In the field of tycoon games, it towers.
It got a fair number of editor's choice awards and never tried to be more than it was, a lightweight, quickie biz sim. Gamerankings lists it in the top 40 for PC games in 2001, 82%.
It's not going to replace your current crack addiction, but it's fine for a few days and worth the occasional revisit.

They are making a Black and White 2, and they are "reoworking" it to an extent. I think they're making it into a strategy game with citys and armies, ect...
Kind of disapointing, because I always expected a God Sim from Black and white, and the half-assed strategy game they made it into was really disapointing. But atleast the sequel will be refined and actually (hopefully) have a real focus to it intstead of just being a few hazy concepts slapped together.

Alas. Tycoon games wallow in the muck and the few rise even above mediocrity. I think RRT is good, and RCT is, too, except for being responsible for spawning the mass of mediocre tycoon games.
Odd, when you think about it. Why can Dune/C&C/Warcraft spawn a zillion RTS games, including quite a few really excellent ones, while RCT spawns a zillion tycoon games, pretty much all trash?
Is a biz sim really that hard to do?
