Maybe he just plans on going on a diet? Didja think of that? Huh? Didja?

I haven't seen Zen's stats, but I just had a look at HongHu's (sp?) stats, and they are also very amazing... she's got more posts than me I think, and she joined in April or May if I remember correctly... that gives 14 posts per day, while you Slayer "only" has about 10 posts per day
|
I contribute to the forum in my own unique way.

Not only that but she posts in CGN at a remarkable frequency

Hong Hu also post a lot in MZO... mmm... strange.. how she could post a lot in different sites?
Plenty of free time?
|
Well I have not been able to post in CGN and MZO a lot lately. In fact I really don't have much free time. Otherwise I wouldn't have only noticed my name being mentioned here three days later.
Yea you guess it. It is the demo game. I was born there. My first post was in the demo game. And I live there. I bet 90% of my post count is in the demo game and perhaps 80% is in the Hive private forum. I've been planning to phase out for a long time. I just couldn't do it. (Yes it is a very bad addiction, I know.) One of these days I'll go pick up my long needed sleeps. One of these days.

If you join all her post she must be a Deity.. or its "Deityness"?
Goddess sound better for sure.
|
I'm perfectly content to stay as a princess.

Ah yes..... the first DG here was the Civ2 one, kicked off soon after I joined - late Jan 2002.
|
I remember joining that and compiling the Alphabetical listing of posters
although I didn't think that demogaming really started until Trip arrived at apolyton I've for some reason been under the impression that he invented (or stole the idea from CivFanatics) the idea

Darkcloud,
Is there any record of the order in which people received their rankings?
|
Theben- do you mean when people became emperors?
Well, I can say this with conviction... in 2001- no current demogamers were anywhere CLOSE to emperor status
And here's an old list from October 2000 (I think)
(The last time I modified it was allegedly 5/2/2001)
I'm not quite sure what all my notations mean, but they *might* signify the amount of time a poster has been at apolyton or the # of days *might* signify how long it took that poster to get to Deity/Emperor/King/etc.

-Looking at this list I see that the people with the most
posts were not only active in the OT, but they were active
in on-topic forums as well.
-Thus, post count truly demonstrates how the people who are
worth the most to our forums are the people who make the most
posts (and who have been here the longest)

Here's the LAST EVER apolyton army
(note how mao still ranks highly despite posting VERY little new posts from the last edition )
(this is all data pre-demogame) [June 2001] and (pre-OT postcount banning or very close to the date where the posts were banned... Somewhere between June-Oct 2001 I think)

Nice lists.
Unfortunately, before my time.

The Duck of Flanders came up with the idea of a Demo game at CFC ages ago, but his initial idea was some way from the games that are played today. We spent about a month or so thrashing out a feasible way to play it with Civ 2, and that survives, more or less, in its original form in the Civ 2 games, but the Civ 3 players saw that it was good, and created their own games, with political parties and other features that allowed them to "get more involved in the game".

Very cool DC. Before my time as well, and I came just before DGs.
Makes me wish I had joined the forums all those years before Civ3, when all I came here for was to download Civ2 Scenarios, just to be in there as well....
And Demo Gaming did not originate with Trip at all, but he was the chief organiser and first President of the Civ3 one - the biggest game to date. I know because I was the first ever member of that game! In fact Sn00py even made me a special banner for my avatar announcing the fact.
Ah the good old days.....

Yeah, but if he knew what he was doing then he'd have put each list in a separate post, eh Spike?
Would it be possible to convince our resident listmeister to produce a new one, slightly more up-to-date?

DC is never NOT making a new list or 20. It's the finishing so we can see them that's the problem...

The good old days were before you, MWIA.
As for the DG bashing, as you put it, it's half a joke, half a discontent feeling about how many DG players almost loath with all their numerous Civgroup icons and their large numbers of accounted posts, out of which many are very spamish. Not to mention that at a few occasions some of the DG players have been stepping on the toes of actual oldskool Apolytoners for being pompous, despite actually still being the opposite of oldskool.
I'm not bashing you and neither does this represent my opinion, but just trying to summarise what I think this DG criticism represents. My opinion is basically that some of you DG'ers shouldn't behave like you were gods around here, just for having achieved Emperor/King status, have posted a lot in DGs and been active there. And yes, I respect DG players and find the concept intriguing. It's just that some DG players have taken it abit too far as an ego boost or something like that.
Just my 0,05€.

Good old Ras. I know who you mean. Young punks that we DGers are....
Old farts that everyone else is. A whole new generation gap - not based on age, but how long you hang around for.
I'm pleased that DG participation is as strong as ever though, and isn't quite the flash in the pan some believe(d) it to be. Maybe one day we'll be fully part of the establishment as well.

DGers are generally accepted around the site as important members of Poly (despite jokes that all they do is spam).
A few more of you wandering down to the OT and joining there too though would do wonders.

Nice lists. See a lot of names in there that you don't see much anymore. Seems a few people have indeed escaped the pull of Apolyton.

I think only the most active posters were listed (and I didn't consider CTP posters as active at teh time since I never visited it.) so if you mostly posted there- then I probably accidentally missed you unless you had a lot of posts.
Theben
I'm glad that the lists satisfied your interests

Well I don't think I'm on the list either but I'm not complaining, since I'm guilty as being a bad DGer.

Notice how he even lists out posters when responding to them?

From looking at this forum, I would say it is the same as OT and is nothing but spam. With all due respect.
Ok I will grant that at least the post are humorous (often) and civil, which is why I read some of the threads here and none at OT.

MZ posts so much in the Spanish forum… It's almost an OT forum in itself, however much Jay Bee tries to keep a lid on spam.
I probably have a few hundred post count from OT back in the day (under my original handle don Don)… I tend more towards the long-winded response rather than numerous "me too" one-liners. I dropped out for much of 2001. Otherwise I'd have been Emperor way back.

No, I'm not a CtP poster and I didn't have a lot of posts (I was probably a Prince or a King at the time). I posted mostly in the Civ 2 sections (strategy, MP, help and general fora). I don't remember you from those sections, maybe you posted elsewhere and hence looked elsewhere for your lists? I find it surprising that there are so few warlords and chieftains in that first list... Another sign of incompleteness?

Maybe you should keep your eyes open a bit, eh? There are already some DGers in the OT.

I only listed active people with lots of posts. and most of them posted in the OT since that was the only place I was allowed to display my data
