Grrrrrr
So I'm playing a bit of SC2000. I've built a nice thriving city. Eventually as one of my old coal plants explodes, I decide to replace it with a new Nuclear. Nothing wrong with that right?
DAMN! A few year's after it's placed, all of the sudden there's an explosion, and I see fire and little radioactive-symbols all over my city. Damn fire took out half the city.

Are you playing with a patch that fixes the water supply bug? If not, your pain is just beginning.

I wish exciting things like that happened to me when I played Sim City. I never got a meltdown that I didn't start on my own.

It pretty much sums up the genre that you wish for a nuclear accident to relieve the boredom.

Yeah in the version out of the box you spend ages sorting out your water distribution system just to find that it inexplicably stops working.

All the fires have been put out. I no longer have any Industry save a few tiles, no electricity source, and I'm broke.
Now what?

I forgot how easy SC2000 is. I just built a city (its small still only about 15000 people in it) and it has 1000 MW of hydro power and 200 MW of wind power, soon the Coal power plant will go poop and I will have 1000-1200 MW total clean power. Not like they complain about the smog in SC2K anyway
and Im sorry to hear that mrmitchell

Damnit, do I just have some kind of ****ing magnetic attraction to nuclear disaster!? Osweld said he's never had it before, and I just had it, again.

is it hooked up to a water supply? You may want to consider hydro and wind power, the power plants last forever, barring disaster (literaly) It is expensive though.

....And Monsters, and Floods, and Airplane Crashes, and Earthquakes...
I think, somewhere in the SC2K code, they included a line under "Disaster Probability" that said "IF USER=mrmitchell THEN DISASTERPROB=100%" or something.

Skanky, how could I avoid them? I mean, my city was power-hungry! And they didn't pollute much either!
And, turning off Disasters is the cheap way out. I want challenge, and I want excitement, but I don't want SC2K to be a fire-prevention simulation, I want it to be a city sim damnit.

Lessee.... there IS that adjusted FUND cheat...
But for a game where you don't win or lose, I never saw it as a cheat, as I tended to need more cash just to get my city off the ground......

SC2000 was the first SC I played... Thus, I cheated a lot.
Customize your map to have a huge mountain in a corner, cover that mountain with water, except for the top... Wow, look at all those places to put hydro plants and windmills
Never plaved SC3000... I bought it, tinkered with it and plaved CIV2.
SC4 is better than SC2k by far. First off, the terrain editor is too smart to allow me to make my huge mountain of water ... Yet, transportation is a lot better, as is building below the street (no more not being able to build subways because you got a water main there)... The best part is that you build counties not just towns. Thus, you can have buisness cities, industrial cities, suburbs, etc. all living together. I like SC4, but is difficult, and takes longer to build up your towns... oh, and no Archawhatyoumacallits...
O, MrMitchell, would turning off disasters prevent you from turning your town into India?

its not cheating if the mountain is already there.
SC3000 generates maps that are too flat, even with the mountain slider all the way up.
