Discussion: Minister Terms
A subject has come up that has yet to be resolved. Should ministers have terms? If so how long? And how would they be chosen again? Would the minister be allowed to retain their position?

This is just my personal opinion:
Terms are not a bad idea, but we definately should have no term limits. I'd like to keep good ministers on the job.
One thing terms do is make you reconsider a minister, and makes the minister reaffirm himself to the job. They also give a the minister a set timeframe to retire, if he's getting tired of the job, keeping him from just burning out and suddenly dropping.
If we did go with terms, I'd prefer staggered 3 month terms, so that every month we have 1 Consul up for election and 1 minister up for reappointment/appointment. However, the Minister term should end in the middle of the month, to allow the new team of Consuls to decide on a new minister, if they choose to.
However, if we stick to the old system I'm prefectly OK with that.

Yes, so that they can 'walk' away if they feel like it without it seeming like they 'quit' instead. I would be in favor of 3 month terms.

Accoring to our con, anyone can call a CoC on "any elected official". If we do amend the con to Approve apointments, this would make Ministers an elected official. So, if you don't like how an office is being run, you can call a CoC on a minister. There is no need for an election.

2 month terms, and we can rotate the different Ministership elections for different times.

Terms.
I like the rotation pattern stated by Togas, this allows people to run again, new people to have a shot, and people gracefully retire.

was the issue of whether the Minister's term every resolved, that is whether they are staggered each month for elections, or held all together

Sounds like we're in agreement that the terms should be staggered. We just need to write up something official. Here's what I propose:
Assuming game starts during Month 1
Military -- the 15th of Month 2, 5, 8, 11
Domestic -- the 15th of Month 3, 6, 9, 12
Foreign -- the 15th of Month 4, 7, 10, 1
Rationale: We'll get an early glimpse at the abilities and activity of the Military Minister with his orders for the units, scouting, and early defense plans. We'll get an idea of the abilities of the Domestic Minister sometime after that, especially once we start to have a few more cities. We won't get an idea of the abilities of the Foreign Minister until there's a few nations we've contacted and a few foreign "incidents" have occured.
