Thief II
I'm playing mission 13 at the moment ("Casing the joint" or something like that), and for the life of me I can't get out of the damned house. I checked an online walkthrough, and it says that I'm supposed to find a cuckoo mechanism on a workbench in the ballroom, but the workbenches are all empty. Do I have a bugged version of the game?

Edit: Hmmm, it appears that I've got v1.07 instead of v1.18. Hopefully installing the patch will take care of this problem...

There is a toolbox near where people are talking in the ballroom iirc. After they finish talking and move away, you can then get the mechanism from there. Or it could be bugged.

Didn't you say the same sort of thing after buying Deus Ex?
Before then loving the game?

Give it a chance, it is an awesome game.

The difference is:
Deus Ex had a GREAT storyline.
Thief 2 has a practically nonexistent storyline.

Its been a while since I played Thief2. I'm waiting until 3 comes out to play the firt two games again.

The story in 2 was lacking; which is the consensus of most fans. The graphics are slightly better than 1, but that's not a big improvement for such a classic game.

There were some really good missions in 2 though, and I think that was nice. Plus it continued the story in some good ways.

I'm really looking forward to 3.

I'll agree that the storyline in 2 is not as good as in 1, but non-existent...

Both were great. The rooftops level in II, though, remains one of my favorite experiences in gaming.

Tass stop dissing games after 5 minutes of play. Both games are good, with Thief 1 being excellent. I know because I played it after Thief 2, only a couple of months ago.

The storyline of Thief 1 is better than that of Deus Ex.
It is highly detailed as well. For example, in Cragscleft you can start the mission with a tip from someone who had been in the prison before. Then when you look through the records of prisoners, there is the same guy who gave you the tip recorded as a released prisoner. Speaking of which, it is a shame Basso and family didn't feature more in the story.

Yeah, that mission. Wasn't there two? Man, it was so long ago.
