Wait a second - why aren't all civ choices available on the polls? I could understand if we excluded civs that were already taken, but we haven't done that...

Here's a summary and listing of what has been picked so far:
How many picks for each Civ:
Carthage: 1
Celts: 4
China: 1
Dutch: 2
Greece: 1
Iroquois: 1
Japan: 1
Mayans: 6
Ottomans: 1
Persians: 2
Romans: 2
Sumerians: 3
Vikings: 2
Ditributed by pick order:
1st Carthage: -
2nd Carthage: 1
3rd Carthage: -
1st Celts: 1
2nd Celts: 2
3rd Celts: 1
1st China: 1
2nd China: -
3rd China: -
1st Dutch: -
2nd Dutch: -
3rd Dutch: 2
1st Greece: 1
2nd Greece: -
3rd Greece: -
1st Iroquois: 1
2nd Iroquois: -
3rd Iroquois: -
1st Japan: -
2nd Japan: 1
3rd Japan: -
1st Mayans: 2
2nd Mayans: 3
3rd Mayans: 1
1st Ottomans: -
2nd Ottomans: -
3rd Ottomans: 1
1st Persians: -
2nd Persians: 1
3rd Persians: 1
1st Romans: -
2nd Romans: -
3rd Romans: 2
1st Sumerians: 1
2nd Sumerians: 1
3rd Sumerians: 1
1st Vikings: 2
2nd Vikings: -
3rd Vikings: -
Mayans and Vikings were the only Civs choosen as the 1st choice by 2 or more Civs.
Maya: Choosen as 1st pick by CFC and The Ladder
CFC's 2nd choice is Japan which no one else choose.
The Ladders' 2nd choice is Summeria which is the 1st choice of the Batrachos team. The Ladder's 3rd choice is Dutch which was only a 3rd choice for CGN. So, if the Ladder loses the toss, they get their 3rd choice of the Dutch.
So, if CFC wins the toss, then CFC are the Mayans and The Ladder will be the Dutch.
If the Ladder wins then they get the Mayans and CFC gets Japan.
Vikings: Choosen as 1st pick by CDG and GCA.
CDG's 2nd choice are the Mayan's which are already taken by either CFC or the Ladder teams. CDG's 3rd choice are the Celts which is the 1st pick for CGN. So, none of CDG's 2nd or 3rd pick are available if CDG does not get it's 1st pick.
GCA's 2nd pick is Carthage which noone else choose at all and so is available for GCA.
The logical thing to do would be to give CDG their 1st choice and GCA their 2nd choice since both CDG's 2nd and 3rd choices are already taken and would mean that CDG woud have to choose a 4th Civ.
That said, this is how I think things will line out:
1. CGN: Celts(1st)
2. CDG: Vikings(1st)
3. Ladder: Mayans(1st) or Dutch(3nd) (coin toss with CFC)
4. GWT: China(1st)
5. CFC: Mayans(1st) or Japan(2nd) (coin toss with Ladder)
6. Apolyton: Greece(1st)
7. GCA: Carthage(2nd)
8. CDZ: Iroquois(1st)
9. Batrachos: Summerians(1st)
Of course, whoever that 10th team is can come in and mess things up.

Or, we make sure that GCA and CDG are in seperate games for the first round as would CFC and the Ladder teams be seperated. That way, all teams get their first choices.
Round 1 Game A
1. CFC
2. GCA or CDG
3. any team remaining
4. any team remaining
5. any team remaining
Round 1 Game B
1. Ladder
2. CDG or GCA
3. any team remaining
4. any team remaining
5. any team remaining
EDIT: The missing choices seem to be from team: Civ3 Brasil

Just because we chose Greece for this game doesn't mean we have to choose it for the second game when we make it there. Greece was a choice designed to get us to the second game when it really matters. EDIT: I'm not trying to say the first game doesn't matter, just that the whole point of the first game is to merely survive, not to win.

Has there been any talk about being able to change your civ in the second round?

Not really. It is up to the Admins. But, everyone seems to like the idea of splitting up CFC/Ladder and CDG/GCA and letting everyone get their first pick. I'm pretty sure the Admins will follow suit.

ur right. the "greek fraternity of apolyton" doesnt sound so bad when you put it that way. We would defintely get the chance to change civ because some teams have the same civ and it would conflict should both survive anyway.
go greeks~
Get the toga! toga!

The second game has not been discussed much at all and really hasn't been discussed for a while (since before Xmass).
But the abriged version of the direction of the conversation I remember was that we chose everything again the second time around.
Since it is 6 vice 10 teams chosing that would seem only fair anyway.

Besides, our grandchildren who will most likely play the second game may like the Greek Civ. If we're playing Civ 5 by then the Greeks may be the superior civ to play.

Nah. By the time we play 2nd game there will be no civilization. All historical records will be forgotten.

What are you talking about? By the time game 2 rolls around civilization will have migrated to Alpha Centauri due to World War 1 on Mars!
