City Name Inspirations
I know that hardcore players like ourselves don't bother with the "default" city names the game gives you when you build a new city. Just wondering what my fellow players draw on for city names.
I have used customer names (most of them are dept. stores whose names translate well into city names like McRaes, Carson, Bonton, etc.), cities I have lived in (from Barsinghausen, Germany to Charlotte, NC, USA), Nevada cities (Sparks, Reno, Las Vegas, Battle Mountain) and Vegas hotels (Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Mirage and Luxor unless the Egyptians already built Luxor). I also use names of people I know and city-ize them (my capital is ALWAYS Stephanopolis after ME)

Do you mean like Theseusopolis, Theseusheim, etc.?

funny Theseus

Usually i take the default names. Though i also build small 'settlements' to make landgrabs for resources near my boarder. I then name those "rubber outpost" or something like that. I also usually have a "city" named "upgrade center" that has nothing but a barrack, airport & a harbor so i can quickly upgrade all my units without confusing them with units guarding actual cities.

Then when i need tactical locations to launch operations from (like small islands far away), but which have no other significant use (can't do anything with it anyway, corruption and all), i name them "Marine Base 1" - "Naval Base 1" Etc... *(see note)

those 'cities' are then micromanaged so that they don't grow beyond size 1 (or i'll end up having to build improvements to keep them happy, which costs money).

Hmmm... double thread posted. How about we all post in the OTHER thread, which has more replies right now after all, and ignore this one so it can all be in the same place.

In the absence of one of us General forum regulars having mod powers here - sound fair?

Sorry, my fault, I was in one of my power-posting modes and did not realize the other thread was primary.

Nobody else post here.
