Aha, and I suppose that would be the mountain Tass was talking about smack in the middle there.

BTW, I think the mountain should stay. It's what makes this city charming.

I would post a report, but I'm disappointed to say that nothing happened. I'm serious. I just continued slower expansion, which was hampered by how the RCI indicator wouldn't quit swinging all to and fro...I reenacted a bunch of ordinances , and started building a bit on the side of the mountain, which makes a nice part of the city to look at. Luckily, before my administration was permanently doomed to obscurity, in 1999 I was offered and accepted the Science Research Lab.
Will go back to get a few screenies, then post save.

Thanks Colon and mrmitchell.
Nice looking city so far.
I'm enjoying following this game, despite not being able to join in.

I think it's funny you can easily detect which person has built which part of the city.

I'll take this turn so people: Dont do anything!
Space: Each wonder is a different one, so it seems many of the Asian ones will bei interpreted as the Petronas Towers or the WTC.
Two of the Asian ones show up, predictably, as the orange squares. We solved it!

You guys are SimCity gods. I only ever managed to make one city in the 2000 version and one in the 3000 version that actually made money rather than lost $1,000,000 a year.

I don't know why, but I find Simcity 3000 a bit easy
OTOH, Simcity 4 is difficult. Pleasently, though.
Alright....
I reenacted a bunch of ordinances, and I tore down the industrial area near Tassagrad. How dare you Colon
Anyway....Because there really isn't much to do anymore, I just let things run as they were.
Four years into it, I got bored and built the Korea Life building. However in vanilla Simcity 3000, it shows up as the WTC...So I built the WTC right next to it.
A fire happend. Nothing was damaged.
A whirpool happend and a marina was destroyed.
An Earthquake happend but apparently nothing was damaged.
I built two nuclear plants to replace aging ones.
Residential crisis forming.
You have a ton of cash! 414K. Use it to tear down the mountain.

Don't tear down that mountain or I'll tear down Tassagrad!

It's an easy way to give a small but still there land value boost to the neighborhood. (Also it kinda looks nice, cities aren't all buildings you know...and if you don't have any parks at all, well, they will all be buildings--trailer parks )

Reminder: LOOK UNDERGROUND AFTER EARTHQUAKES. They'll often destroy a lot of water pipes or subway lines.

Or follow my example and make different-elevation hilly neighborhoods. It adds something to the city.

What's wrong with good ol'fashioned solid big parks and ballparks? I think they're far more effective and look nicer.
And leave the mountain untouched!

IIRC, 9 Small Parks are slightly more effective than 1 Big Park--at least, if not, you can still spread them around more evenly. (But I'm not sure about how strong they are though)

in the yellow circle you can see the second King Tower in our city (i made it historic since Tass loves the asian buildings and its in Tassagrad)
in the blue circle is Barrow Heigths, touch it and I will kill you.
in the red circle...well I'll let you name it
I will attach the save in a moment.
