AU Mod: The Bomber
in my current game (netherlands, huge continents @ emperor) i've got a techlead and beelined for flight. and i've got to say: bombers are absolute killer units!

as long as you don't need to worry about air defense (starts with combustion, so just 1 tech before flight) bombers are absolutely dominant! they have a very good bombard strength (12), but a range of 10! and with lethal sea AND land bombard you can take out many empire without problems. kill the units or redline them and get promoted with easy victories!

bombers are extremely cheap (cost: 100... and by the time of flight you should have several cities with at least 50 production).
now let's compare it to artillery:
cost: 100 vs. 80
range: 10 vs. 2
defense: 2 vs. 0
bombard power: 12 vs. 12
RoF: 3 vs. 2
Resources: Oil vs. nothing


now, i know the AI likes using bombers, that's why we shouldn't tone down this unit too much. but imho this is just too powerful if you time your warfare right.

i don't know if the AI will know how to use enough bombers against one target to take out units, so maybe (A) removing "lethal land bombard" would be the most effective and conservative more.

alternatively, (B) increasing cost or (C) reducing RoF to 2 would be an option.

in theory, we could (D)reduce the bombard strength, but following things should be kept in mind, if changing the unit:
- don't weaken it too much, as bombers aren't that overpowered anymore when the oponent has AA units and installations
- don't disadvantage the AI even more in terms of bombard
