I was addicted to civ, civ2 and smac and very much looking forward to civ3.
Civ3 was a big disappointment so I stayed clear of PTW. (actualy I downloaded a warez version to see if it was any good but I really didn't care much about it).
I bought Conquests two weeks ago to give Civ3 one last chance and I must say it makes civ3 almost as addictive as its predecessors. The one more turn feeling is back.
Go get it!
BTW I would advice you to install Snoopy's graphics, it makes the game look much better.

Although I have Conquests already, I have been reading many reviews on the game, and I've seen a lot of complaints about how the game has no big difference to PTW.
I think its all dribble!
Conquests has much more than all Civs!

I can't try these myself right now but there are some terrific looking Earth maps here.
If the start positions aren't to your satisfaction, you can change them yourself by loading the map in the editor and selecting the civs you want to start where you want them to start.
