How to make the map not visable?
I LOVE all kinds of Civ games. This CIV3 is a winner I think. I love to create my own maps. But what ever I try, I always see the entire map when I try to play that map. That is no fun. I've don anything.. Please help!
I am desperate about it...

If you are going into the editor and generating a map. Once you finish it, do a save as. Once it has been saved as a scenario, you should be able to load it and play it just like any random map.

Are you speaking of the 'preview window' when chosing a scenario to load up? I do not think this can be altered, however just focus on the name and shun the preview window.
However, if you talking about once the game loads and the whole map is visable? This is an editor option. Load your map (always considered a scenario) access the SCENARIO tab. It is the next to last one on the right next to help. Open, locate on right side two-thirds down a 'reveal entire map'. Make sure it is unclicked.
Also locally, there is a fog of war editing tool same as resource and tile selection tools nearby. (all second line down) I do not use it as the option above is global.
I hope this helps

IIRC it will be in the civ-content, if not then conquest. I forget which. You see the name in one or the other though.

Ok I just made one and saved it and it is civ-content. The map comes up and is all fog of war, except the settler area.

See the fourth check box that saws reveal map? Make sure that is not checked.

Thanks for all your help. You guys are the best
I've solved the problem! It seems that I saved the map into the wrong map. When I saved it into the conquest map itself, I can see a name with that map in the game, but when I played that map.. the problem occurs.
The trick was to save the map in the Scenario map! After that.. the map was OK. !!!
When I am good enough, perhaps we can play a short game!!! I hear that a lot of guys play this game on a huge level. I can manage Monarch level.. perhaps one level higher when the map is good enough to play on but not much higher...
