on the subject of SE choices & AI preference
i was just reading the "new alpha centauri" thread, and the discussion about SE choices, and this puzzling thought occurred to me again.

why is it that miriam is nicer to you if you run fundy? this makes no sense. she should be meaner. you're the planet cult, running fundy and green. your society's religion is not christian; it's Planetism (or whatever). if the believers are hostile to godless heathens, wouldn't they be even MORE hostile to factions whose religion is different than thier own? it doesn't make sense that they'd be satisfied with ANY religion; they should only be satisfied with christianity. if you say you don't go to church, a fundamentalist is disappointed and tries to convert you. but say you're a wiccan or a druid, and they get seriously steamed. right?

i realize these are extremely broad generalizations, but this aspect of the game has been bothering me for some time. i mean, so your faction is "fundamentalist." well, who do you worship? is it the same god the believers worship? could it be... SATAN? i know it would screw with game mechanics to change this - miriam would have to be hostile to absolutely everybody, no matter what their SE choices were (well... she kind of already is, but you know what i mean).

comments, thoughts?

Whar about other religions - moslem, jew, hindu, etc. - there would definetely be believers on Chiron? And planetism is definetely not a religion - perhaps just for the cult - but it doesn`t require special choice - or it does? Maybe there would be subchoices of fundamentalism - select religon to be fundamentalised

Fortunately, Fundamentalism is the only real mismatch.

I just figure Miriam is a bit on the slow side.

Funnily enough, the only thing AI's get pissed about is when you dont run their favourite SE. They don't care if you run the SE they would never run

Thats means you can run Fundie and still be pals with Zak, or Knowledge and still be pals with Miriam.

Also running police state doesn't double-piss off Lal compared to running Fundie, he hates them both equally.

Actually, it has appeared to me that you do take a negative hit for taking the "allergic" choice, and a lesser negative hit for taking the third choice; has there been any work done on this?

I notice these things because I do like having open lines of communication, and I'm sensitive to things that tend to get them shut down.
