I'll give yah that, I was in the mindset of a medium sized map, thus tech stag and spoils of war were very scarry combined force when I have to start right next to *insert warmongering faction here*

Multiple loads result in the next player being notified. If you do it often enough, everyone will know.

I am not sure, but that might be kinda safety trick to put two "x" letters in front of the email address, but anyway i have already sent a pm...
BinTravkin, if we commit to no-reloding, we do not reload. Period. There is no other way to have good and quality game. As i wrote some posts earlier, i could have some unit of strength 10 or even, let us say, 50 and other player trying reloding for example 500 times could kill it easily with a scout with strength 1. It has no sense playing such game, thus rules state - every player loads once, then ends turn generating file for next player. This game is not chess game, where there is nothing more but players decisions and no chance. This game bases on chance rolls, which could be unfortunately easily cheated. Reloding to achieve desired battle outcome is good for single player games, coz computers do not mind that, but when playing with people they do mind. I do and i think others too We stick to the rules

Just a note, i wrote that we could play version 4.0, but i'm using a machine with winXP, so i believe it would be better to have the version 5.0, as they call it the compatibility patch for win2000/XP.
What operating systems do you use?

Im on XP too
Theres a thing about reloadin - if i download file to folder called "downloads" & then copy it to folder "..\SMAC\Saves\PBEM\" play my turn, dont like the outcome & delete the file then copy it from download folder again, is there any chance that "terran.exe" will recognize that Im cheating even if i change the filename?
Does SMAC has any security against this kind of cheating?

SMAC keeps track if you've played that file, and it does it independent of the save folder, and the file of the game being played. Thus the next player will know if the game was reloaded. It is considered good form post why on the turn tracking thread.

Yeah the xx's were for the safety thing people keep mentioning about scary bots getting your emails from forums and then spamming you to buy their viagra and mortgages sorry didnt mention that.
I'm still lacking password and tech choice from Themonger. got it
Also ran into a little problem creating the scenario in that there are 2-3 factions at the start do not have all the technological choices available to them, for most it is a simple matter os things like applied physics so you won't really mind but for the Hive they're missing cent ecology and this is why it may take a day or two more as i'm messaging other more experienced CMN's to try come up with the reason since i've checked and double checked (and then had it confirmed) that everything is as it should be yet it still isn't appearing so apologies about that
anyways we may have to work out a compromise to this, if after the one suggestion i've got, and about to try, doesn't work.
ps, reloads are only allowed on rare occasions such as power faults shutting your computer down, windows being windows and crashing etc too many are viewed as suspicious.

Hmm didnt work, i've been told that this is a one of those little annoying bugs in good old SMAC.
Will continue to try find a way around it when i get some more advice or if that doesn't work i've got a few ideas for giving bonuses as a counter balance for this effect.

The idea i've come up with is to simply tweak the Hives starting position just slightly and to give him a goodie bag basically. The scenario will start 2moro night at the latest.
