Capitalism 2
learn me how to play good!!
I did the first tutorial but it was god-awfully boring so I just dove right into a custom game. I was doing good for awhile, I had a chain of succesful supermarkets and a few apartment buildings, but then out of nowhere my company quit making a profit. : help!
also is there anyway to slow down the graphics? It looks like Im playing a DOS game on a new machine everything is zipping around. The game itself runs at the right speed, its just the graphics that are too fast.

Apartment buildings make money if you charge the right rent, which is dependent upon the economy, the neighbourhood, and the grade of your apartments.
Supermarkets make a profit if the revenues are higher than costs. Revenues depend on a bunch of factors, such as price, brand recognition, etc. Be careful if you sell imported items, for anybody can sell them, so you if you spend $ to build brand recognition you are just doing it for everybody.
So if you want to make truckloads of $ you need to get vertical integration down pat, that way you can just make the brands for your own retail outlets.

I just bought this, but have not played it. Is it worth the effort to learn?

I think economics are boring but so far Ive enjoyed it. Its like an empire building game, except you dont get to attack the other players and they dont get to attack you.

or factories, or department stores, or apartments, or commercial buildings, or mines, or any other number of buildings. You can even make your own brand of population control (cigarettes)! (or your own brand of bread if you prefer) (or your own brand of computers) (or cars even)

Okay, but right now I'm working through the tutorials of EU2, which I'm sure would get more hands up than cap 2.

It's a bit like SimCity, but you only build megacorps.
