The big question
I had to ask, I'm sorry.
After having played Unreal Tournament 2003, have you stuck to the new one or gone back to the original?

I use both, I prefer the sniper-rifle on the original to the lightening gun on the latter, and the latter flak cannon as opposed to the first. I like what they did with the rocket launcher in 2003, but the original fired more shots.
I like the feel of the earlier and the speed and almost quake-like ness of the latter. I'm all confused!

Ick, I just can't stand the way the new one plays. I don't know why- it just doesn't seem right.

It is rather fast and aggressive isn't it, and you somehow feel "larger" for want of a better term in relationship to the arena?
That come close?

Yeah, I think you've hit it there.
Of course, the game looks fantastic. The player models and weapon effects are excellent. But things like the sniper rifle just throw me off somewhat. I know I'm a terrible player, but I used to love pulling great moves and survivng for long periods on high difficulty in such maps as Hall of Giants ( ). But now it seems like the average lifespan has gone way down, too.

I do like the first one more, but I haven't installed the old one, since I only play it MP, and those I play against don't want to play the old one...

I UT2k3. More balance, More options IMO.
I cant run it on my computer though so my playing time is limited.
I think its more of being accustomed to changes. For example, to me, the original rocket launcher was more effective. The new one isnt inferior but it just feels that way to me, cause i cant use it well.

This is true. Even novice mode in 2003 I reckon is probably equivalent to Skilled on the original.

Hmmm, I prefer the rocket launcher on 2003, it seems faster and generally better for deflection shooting, while the double jump provides your defence. The game as a whole though seems more geared for attack, merge double jump and rocket launcher and you have a very effective bombing strategy.
And wtf happened to the enforcers????

at lotm... It's one of those 'Legendary' games, along with CIV, DOOM, Half Life, and all the rest of them. Go pick it up for $10- you won't regret it. It'll play well on nearly any system.

I feel the same. I think they tried to address this with ut2k3, with mixed results.

May I draw the forums attention to Unreal Tournament 2004 whose release is nigh on imminent. Theres a demo on the site ( http://www.unrealtournament.com).
Same model and similar weapons to 2003, but more weapons (including the return of the sniper rifle) better player/bot models, some more modes, including the return of assault, onslaught.
And best of all, you get to drive/fly around in vehicles, including tanks, APC's, hovercraft, aircraft and space fighters. Whaleboy is a happy chap!
