Scientific Leaders -> I got one!
Last time I was checking the forums more in dept, I noticed there was a discussion about no one having a SL. Well in my current game, the mass production tech, brought more than mass production to my empire. Just to let you know that they do exist!
Any others lucky ppl out here?
just for the records I play on the world map with 31 civs on emperor

Yes people are reporting getting them, just not all that often. A few have even had more than one in a game. I once got three in a game, but it is not unheard of to get none.
Anyway glad you got it.

I generally get them every other game or so now. Oddly I haven't gotten any the current game as the Koreans, though I've gained many techs first.

I've gotten quite a few of them playing the scenarios, but I've yet to get one in an epic game. I wonder if the percentages are different...

I had 4 in one of the single city games I played
I think it helped me completely dominate the AI, despite playing on emperor

Should not have an effect, but they could have done something to alter the AI's method of researching. Allowing you to beat them to more techs than normal.

I've had a couple. Maybe once every 2-3 completed games or so. (Less since I switched to emperor, as I gain techs first significantly less often before the industrial age.)

I play a lot of multiplayer and I usually get a lot. In one game I even got two in the same turn.
One of the most exciting things that can happen in the game i think.

I've gotten one in an epic game (non scientific civ), and two in the Mesopotamia conquest (Greeks). Now, MGL...haven't seen any of those (except for the one you start out with in the RoR conquest)

Must be some confussion on this as you get an SGL from discovering a new tech. You can't discover 7 techs in one turn.
Maybe you mean MGL. In C3C MGL's cannot build wonders.
Are you talking about CivIII or PTW, instead of Conquest?

I had Howard Dean in the middle of his shouting states and yelping speech for a short period of time. But I just couldn't look at my own posts anymore, so I had to get rid of him.
The SGLs were at Writing, Code of Laws, Mathematics, Engineering, Printing Press, and Gunpowder. The writing leader was used for the Colossus when everyone still had one or two cities. So the empire's trade was effectively doubled. That allowed me to get Philosophy, and then Code of Laws as free tech, and then I researched to Mathematics first as well.

I guessed I missed your posts during that period, so I stand corrected.
Well I won't need to wory about any SGL's in my current game, only surviving. Down about 6 techs so far and all civs are in the next age. I love it. I see no one has start the GL, so I start it. Next turn it was finished by someone. That is how it is going to be I guess.
SunTzu built and I am not even in that era.

My first Conquests game was playing the AoD Conquest as Portugal. I got an SGL from each of my first three techs. Haven't seen one since.

It would be nice if you could get more of these science heroes - can this be adjusted by an easy mod or edit?

Well, I stated this once before, but its a funny story:
First time playing C3C. Took the Mayans for the Spear thrower (enslave).I think they start with Masonry and Alphabet (not sure on Alpha). My first research was set to Writting. Yeah! First one to get this tech! Bingo! SGL (yes, it did happen with the first tech in my first game)! Its like the year 2050 BC. I smile to myself and think "well looky here! I start with Masonry and have the Pryamids just sitting there to be built.". I switch my build from Granery (got pottery from another civ) to Pryamids and happily click the "Rush build" button. Lo and behold, the next turn I complete the wonder. Record time. Never seen anyone do it faster (except fanes7, who cheated to do it). I get two messages from the computer in succession:
The Great Pryamids wonder splash followed immediatly with the "Our Civilization has just entered a Golden Age!". The Pryamids fullfill all the needed traits for the Maya. But, like I said, I finished them in record time! I was put into a despotic GA with one size 3 city!!! Talk about a waste!

Yeah, I did the same thing once. I forgot they would get the GA from the wonder and had about 3 maybe 4 cities. It was alright as I had two of them as camps and just busted settlers as fast as I could and had workers mine as best as I could to gt the most from it.
The free granaries paid off.
