Therefore, Rah will cross the finish line first.

Thanks for working that out for me. I was planning on doing something similar.
So, now its a fight for the bronze medal!

True. I can't even threaten you with oil-slicks anymore, as Rah revealed the last one this round.

No sense in pm'ing,
right, accel, m^10
And that last oilslick was lame; there is no way to get a crash on that one, and it robbed me of the block.

Yes, you are correct, but I pm'd them anyway.
They were right accelerate.
Let's see were the last oil patch was.

Rah, you hit it on the last run and it moved you right by one square (I think). Good game, I played it way to cautious.

Yes, from the worst starting place.
But almost everyone had to crash for it to happen.
Luck beats skill.

No reason for me to continue racing, but...
Accelerate straight, and hope that there's about 20 oil slicks sitting in front of the finish line.

Actually just found out that you had a lot more than luck. Apparently the GM kept you in the game by doing a reroll on an oilslick; the first roll had you crash and burn. It is his game and his call though.

He did that for Jamski too though, because he thought crashing out on an oil slick the first time was too unlucky. I sympathise quite a bit, I wouldn't want to do that either.

Yeah, when placing the oil I didn't forsee people hitting them at those sort of speeds and thus being killed just by pure luck. Which is why I support oil-slicks (if included) being visible from the start and only things like sandtraps (slow you down by one) being hidden.
They were supposed to increase the challenge level somewhat, not to kill randomly.

Skanky, np, it is just a game.
I was just pointing out that if you had been a stickler, then I would have won. 2nd, is fine however. I was your call to make and you did it fairly.
I would like to see a more curvy track to keep the speeds down. It would also be nice to see the whole track so that you could get some type of strategy going.
I like the sand pits and the oil. Perhaps if we let the person run off the track, one move to get back on and start the next turn at speed 0 instead of the kill?

Well, I guess that's that then.
First place: Rah
Second place: Spaced Cowboy
Third place: Drogue
Many thanks to all who took part.
Looks like it is Rah's turn to host the next game.

Just got back from vegas and catching up at work, so it'll take me a just a bit to set up the track and get it ready. Patience. When I'm ready I'll set up a sign up thread.

I'm looking at actually wrapping the track back to the starting line. Hopefully the turns will be wider so how you enter the turns will be important. I do want a few straights to let people pick up speed. I do plan on showing more of the track to let people plan better.
Hopefully leading to a faster track. If nothing else, I think the last race proved the WC concept. It added a lot more strategy and variety. I will probably have a slightly different rule on oil slicks.
AND THE START WILL BE A BIT more even

rah did better posting his turns in advance without seeing any track, a concept that us lowly scum could learn from ...

And the penny drops. Ahh.
Yes, wildcards seemed to work out well.

I expected people to have the same sort of speeds as in the previous game. Damned lead-foot bastards.

I was thinking maybe two laps, and only having oil slicks where previous crashes had occurred, so people would know where they were.

ADG better pack extra oil in his car then.
Thats quite a good idea, having us make more obstacles.
I wouldn't be opposed to some *visible* oil-slicks alreay on the track though.
Any decision on sandtraps?
