The Democrats should go with Gumby, he'd have the same intelligence as anyone else they might pick and is a lot more malleable.

Jimmytrick, one more thing about the South is that it seems to be much more patriotic than the North. Thus, as a whole, I see three major issues where a Southerner and the National Democrat Party differ:
1) Civil Rights;
2) Abortion (and social issues generally); and
3) National Security.

If Kerry is the nominee I put $2,000 on Bush to get 370 or more electoral votes. If Ming agrees to hold the money.

Jimmytrick--I think you should have honored the 400 electoral votes you originally asserted, but fine: You have a bet at $2,000 that Bush gets at least 370 electoral votes against Kerry if Kerry is the nominee. We'll get Ming or some other trustworthy third party to hold the money.
Now are you going to wus out again and back off from the bet that you proposed?

July 29th is the date to put your money down Yank.
I'll use this money to build me a new computer. I have been putting it off for too long.
I hate to tie up my money for such a long time. Maybe we can do something like a certified check. This will cut my poker stake down a bit.

Same... Hell, I don't think anyone will be willing to bet against us on this .

I'll better you. I'll say he falls out of his chair laughing so hard that he hits his head on the flood and is hospitalized for a week.

laugh all you like, suckers. It's only because you don't have $2 grand to spend.
JT: sounds good. I think if we can trust each other I am all in favor of not tying up money unnecessarily. A regular check would be a good idea, with one to be sent to the winner and the other to be ripped up. I think certified checks are equivalent to cash, so if we're going to do that it ought to be close to the election date.
ps--in the interest of full disclosure, John Kerry is my uncle. But I don't think that affects the integrity of this bet at all. It's not like I have some inside information that the rest of the country doesn't.

Oooo. I'll take that bet. I think Ming has more control over himself than you give him credit for.

Certainly it has no bearing on the integrity of the bet..but it is rather interesting information anyway...

I am sorry but your check is no good to me. I'll need more secure arrangements. I work for my money.
Ming has demurred. I will have to come up with another plan.
