Napoleonic Conquest Turn Thread
The cast:
Prussia - CerberusIV (CerberusIVciv3SPAMAWAY@aol.com)
Russia - GhengisFarb (GhengisFarbSPAMAWAY@msn.com)
Spain - Uber KruX (theamericommie TA hotmail DOT com)
Ottoman Empire - Paddy the Scot (paddythescotSPAMAWAY@hotmail.com)
Austria - Rommel2D (jwalaSPAMAWAY@fastmail.fm)
March, 1800 to CerberusIV
It looks like ships have no bombard capability? Any idea why?
Will golden ages be triggered by any/all of our UUs?
What are victory points being awarded for?
[edit: I found the description of the point system, but still can't figure out how to find the VP locations...]

And so it was that Captain Emre and his troop were again encamped at the Ottoman - Austrian border.
The small village had played host to many such delegations over the centuries past. They brought forth warm food and hot drink. The Captain even allowed the taking of the local Grappa. A liquid of great fire.
Ahh, he thought, here they come. These Hussars sure do look the part in their uniforms.
The Hussar Captain dismounts with great flair.
Yet again Diplomatic words are passed along by both sides.
Papers and satchels are exchanged.
With this transaction completed, a toast to the two Lord of their fine lands is proposed.
The Austrian troop dismounts, and the various men take the small cups, the drink is taken and a cheer is raised by both sides.
Here the Austrians remount, and with the style of great horsemen, they wheel their horses and head back to their Lord.
Captain Emre looks to the sky, and ponders a this moment, this is becoming a regular occurance! My brother should be here with a small Inn.
With a sharp whistle, he calls his troop to order.
"Ok lads, lets us be off to Mostar again!"

I belive that each golden age is triggered by that countries UU winning its first ever battle.
This pic is from a Napoleonic game. It shows the Victory Markers.
This one was once Paris....

Lt. Ferencsik took the bundle from the unfamiliar Hussar captain and unceremoniously turned north into a bitter March wind, destined for Prussia. "These winds are heavy with promise of war...".
Are those monuments supposed to be visible before a city is razed?

The no bombardment for ships is just one of those scenario specific changes. I guess it is to downplay naval warfare and to stop the AI in particular spending all its time bombarding coastal cities.

I played it many years ago. I felt this scenario could be very "political" especially as a DemoGame.

yes very political, especially as the main players are the AI, and the rest of us have no set allegiances

Tanks for that Uber Krux
-------------------
The hour grows long, the day is fading.
Captain Emre rides over the pass looking down into the valley, urging his mount on, he knows he must hurry.
Like the wind the troop race their fine steeds... as every minute ticks by they draw closer to the border.
And then they arrive to find that the finely spoken Austrians are already mounting their thoroughbreds.
With he manner of the highborn, the dispatches of the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire are handed to the waiting hands of the Austrian Hussar.
And then as if the fires of life depend upon the delivery of this case, the Hussars dissapear into the darkness.
"Ahh, let us see to our horses, then we will make camp by the spring for the night."

Once the dispatches make their way to Prussia by way of the United Kingdom, CerberusIV should have Jul of 1800 waiting for him.

The dispatches arrive in Berlin on a fine, sunny July morning. After their contents have been reported to the King fresh orders are given and a troop of Cuirassiers gallop west towards the Russian border.

...who are promptly ambushed by crazed Frenchies who depise the Prussian people. The ambushers then head for a Moscow tavern in search of gut wringing vodka.
After a few rounds they accidently fall into the fire place where they catch fire and run haphazardly into the snowbanks outside. There they freeze to death overnight and the dispatches from Prussia are found upon their stiff dead bodies and sent to the Kremlin.
The Czar decides he will send his dispatches to Spain by carrier pigeon..............

to paddy.
The nation of Spain would like to publicly announce that they are in the market to purchase technologies, preferably nationalism. we are prepared to negotiate for gold.
We would also like to know what happened to the northernmost Italian city.

Milan you here, Milan you there... Milan is nowhere...
Good question Uber K.
----------------
Captain Emre and his troop arrived early in morn, they knew the wait would not be a long one today. Austrian troops were known to be close to the border this month.
With the handing over of the dispatch, the troop made good time on their journey back to the Capital.

Thank you, Bruce. ;-)
The shipment of Turkish hash worked like a charm. My Berlin operatives report they no sooner placed it on the black market than Cuirassiers were seen to be riding off in random directions. French dope fiends were also reported to be sweeping through the Prussian countryside on a fevered bender shortly afterward. Is it available in bird food pellets?

It seems your new ally hasn't seen fit to enlighten you as to his battle plans, King Uber...
Austrian musketmen scouting through the Alps reported seeing a great French force massed outside Milan. After a derisive battle cry of "Bite my shiny metal balls!", the French proceeded with an assault on the city. When fleeing Italian refugees met up with Austrian officials sent to investigate, we were informed that the Frogs had razed Milan. We are alarmed to find French cannon in lands that now wish to align themselves with Austria. Austria will consider taking steps to prevent this diminutive megalomaniac from growing at the rest of Europe's expense...
Now, has anyone seen a satchel marked "To Sultan O'men" around somewhere? I seem to have misplaced it...

The stupid AI in this game almost always razes the cities they capture. Which is really irritating in this scenario.
