Maybe later when my kids give me a break. My wife is out of town. I'll check back later after I feed them. If not, I still look forward to kicking your butt in the future...

Well I dueled Ming last night, we're about about 100 BC, its getting VERY ugly, my causilties are soaring... heres a quick comparison. (first column me second his)
Settlers 3, 0
Warriors 2, 2
Phalanx 1, 2
Pikemen 2, 8
Horsemen 3, 1
Chariot 1, 0
Elephant 17, 2
Crusaders 3, 3
Capatpult 15, 0
Diplomat 1, 1
A total of 48 to 19. A difference of 29 units!!
Then again, I have Hanging, GW and Miches and he has, nil
So empress... when are you up for a duel?

Fun game... thanks!
When you caught my capital about 2 or 3 turns from finishing a wonder, it was pretty much all over. I thought I was safe on the river with vet phalanxes... but I had no clue you had so many elephants in position (did you get that science from a hut?... I didn't see my first hut for 2,000 years )
It took me a long time to get mason so I could build another capital... the delay was a killer. At least I defended myself better after that...
Thanks again...

Yeah it was a lot of fun
No, I couldn't get to monarchy, I only got map making from a hut. The rest were barbs or units. I researched poly really quick since my second city was on gold. Then I had two 25 production cities just pumping out vet elephants. I had two triremes full just in case you discovered the three that were heading by land. 2400 BC HG helped me a lot, it got me the boost in sciences w/o monarchy. Then 625 BC Miches was the end of you definitely.
Maybe next time you'll have a little more luck

Luck? Yeah it would have been nice... But you nailed me fair and square! I was just beat
My downfall was the fact that you found me first, and could get the units there fast enough. Just 3 or 4 more turns, and you would have been facing better defense. If I could have defended my capital (like I did the other major cities) it would have been a different game. When I lost that, the science rate went from 4 turns to 20, and I was still many turns from finishing mason.
Money went from 15 - 20 a turn, to break even. It was impossible for me to mount any kind of return strike.
I'll tip my hat to you for continuing to keep the preasure up on my cities to keep me from doing anything but defending. While I was making a come back, all I was really doing was digging in. While I still had a better science rate... It would have taken you a while to dig my vet pikeman off of the MANY mountain cities... but it was just a matter of when, not if!
Again, congratulations!

A newbie? hardly, I've been playing civ for 5 years. I've had MGE since the day it came out! I 'lent' my MGE cd to a 'freind' who 'moved' to colorado and he took it with him...
No your downfall came because I couldn't research CoL early and went straight for poly (with techs from huts for presequits) also triremes helped greatly. I doubt even 3 vet phalanxes could have stopped 7 vet elephants. It was a great duel though, if you had found those eles that were waiting on the hills for 3 turns waiting for the rest to arrive by ship. I was ready to have a heart attack. When I found your first city I missed my first chance to win. You only had a warrior (right?) and my vet archer and horseman could have taken it. That would have been a nice advance, but then I would have gone for mon instead of poly. But I find early military strategies when you have 2 20+ production cities work quite well

You would have been in for a state of shock if all you thought was there was a warrior.
I was PRAYING YOU WOULD ATTACK! I had a vet phalanx (thanks to some barbs who had tried earlier) sitting fortified on a river forest square... You would have been lucky to even bring him down to yellow
As you know from some other losses... I was searching for incoming units in an attempt to pick them off... but the shear number of elephants at that time did the trick... Now, if I had had three pikeman fortified on that river, I would have taken my chances I look forward to revenge...

Which elephants? Do you know something I don't? Well you got a pretty big boost when I accidently disbanded a city... that lost me a lot of time... I probably would have found you first if that city had not been disbanded. But I guess thats life. And Empress don't worry, I'll make your conquest as fast and painless as possible
