Problems with links?
For the last few days I haven't been able to use links on this site (to other sites). When I click a link it just opens a "Cannot find server" page, with the usual link text in the adress:
http://abcnews.go.com/
Am I the only one having this problem?

What is the link that opens in your new page that doesn't load? Such as
Code:
|
http://www.joetec.net/adserv/between3.php?...etc |
. This will help determine where the problem lies. And for the record, all links work fine for me.

Sometimes it shows (in the adress field) like what you posted, and sometimes it shows up as:
Code:
|
h t t p : / / a p o l y t o n . n e t / g o . p h p ? h t t p : / / a b c n e w s . g o . c o m / |

I usually just get a ton of pop ups that crash my browser. Has something changed?

Have you installed Norton Internet Security and enabled the ad filterabilities (That will make it impossible to follow external links from Polly)

I have had ad filterablities for the last many years, and have never given me any such problems, and I don't have any Norton Internet Security or such...

Browser?
Also, have you tried it with different browsers?
Any other links get spaces mysteriously added to them?

Try Opera or Mozilla Firebird. If problems persist, please see your doctor.

Not that I know of. I get ADG's error message above and the following:
Code:
|
http://joetec.net/adserv/between3.php?User_Id=253&img=http://207.44.245.200/Apolyton-60.gif&height=60&width=255&url=http%3A%2F%2Fabcnews.go.com%2F |
Links work for me on all forum sites EXCEPT Apolyton.
Who is this "joetech" and why is he terrorizing Apolyton?

Joetec is an advertisement site we are forced to go through before getting to the site we were originally after.

I have Norton installed, I use Mozilla and AGV is always running too.
Strangely the links work sometimes, but I can't download anything from 'poly. To be honest. IMVHO, the new ads-on-click-link system sucks donkey balls for me.
But I'd rather lose out on links than leave my compy unprotected or use a crappy browser, so I guess its my fault.

Perhaps my problem lies in using Mozilla... A quick check with IE revealed an advert, 15 seconds wait, and a working link. I don't suppose I'm going to go back to IE though, just to click on links. I can always copy and paste the location into a new tab. As for downloading stuff... if I really want it, hopefully I can get someone to e-mail it to me.

This does indeed stop you cold. I decided to filter all the ads when the forced redirection began. If a link is interesting to me I just open its properties and copy-paste the address. That's a hell of a lot quicker than 15 seconds in any event. I am always happy to support this site but the forced redirection through an ad site was to much for me. While I know this is a private site and the will of the owners reigns supreme, this is one policy I would be happy to see go.
