REVO...what? Republi-Who?
The sweet smell of the dawn rolls in through the open window, and Zedd takes a deep breath as the warmth of the sun shines in. After many long nights of consultation with the minister of science, and the helpfull aid of some local wise men, the King has made the decision to face the people. Though he has tried to rule wisely and favorable it seems that our lone city is in a lull, and for the good of the people sacrafices must be made.
HEAR YE, HEAR YE!
King Zedd wishes to make an announcement!
Citizens of Apolytonia, we are a people in need of growth and expansion. These simple days have become all too familiar to us and we must, for the greater good, break this monotinous cycle and expand on the greatness of our empire.
It has been put to me to step down as your ruler so that the people may govern themselves, and so work as a collective to accomplish the tasks at hand. however I can not, in good faith, abandon my post as your leader Therefor I call on every member of this society to cast your vote and decide the fate of us all. Shall we continue on with me as your King....... Or will we reshape the future of our nation by calling for REVOLT!

The poll is set to last 4 days, I will be beyond contact untill monday morning so will not be able to keep up with the results.
Should REVOLUTION win out, I will gladly begin a nomination and election thread for our first representative government as well as oversee the creation of a cabinet and the assention of our new Consule
The wise men let me make that title up

Viva la Republic! And I suggest that Consul Zedd have a term of office for the remainder of February. We can have elections for a new Consul for March.

i conditionally support the republic - get a marketplace ASAP so we don't spend 60% or more on luxuries in order to celebrate to size 7 and don't spend 40% or more to stay content at 7 (without a colosseum or cathedral we can't celebrate to 8) and we don't have monotheism or even masonry atm.

So should we change to Republic, who here is willing and ABLE to be one of the new representative government? This is my one concern with changing right now.

I am honored to be able to continue as your representative in this game and will continue to play to the best of my abilities. However I would like to see some diversity in this game play and the only way to have that is to have players with different styles.
I think Duke O' York would be a fitting leader as he has allready shown he is willing to step forward when called. Also rjmatsleepers and SCG seem to have taken an interest and perhaps they could be persuaded to contribute thier skills as well. (The chef in the palace makes the best food in the nation )

*SCG wonders if Zedd realizes what he is suggesting
especially since I've just returned from another 6 month vacation from Civ

I agree that DoY (Grand Old?) would be a fitting leader - as indeed would ex king Zedd.
I regret that I'm not in a position to help with the game, except by sitting on the side lines and taking part in the polls.

Not sure if I said anything inappropriate, if so I apologize. However there is no better way to stretch your civ muscles than to take on a challenge.

I think the whole point of this game was to get into a hole and pull ourselves out of it. Eventually, I think we want to find conditions where we can barely win at all.

just curious, did you follow the link? it was to one of my posts in the 2nd Civ II Democracy game (of which i also took an interest after a rather long hiatus from Civ). I tended to be a bit of an extreme micromanager during my 2 terms in office. Elect me to office and I could revert to old patterns again.

Talk about a sinecure.
For the next few centuries then I reckon that defence minister will be another one.

unfortunately many of these positions will simply be place holders untill we can reach other civs. But its allways easier to win an election as an incumbant.
I will Play tonight and post tomorrow, after that we should think of some type of constitution that can dictate things like term limits, actions of various officials, and the extent of power for the Consul. eg. Military deployment without Senate approval, and variations on tech choices or city builds from the minister suggestions.
Just a thought.

Sorry but I couldn't play last night. Vid card was on the fritz, I would hit end of turn and the screen would do a little and then the system would crash.
after 2 hours of trying to fix it, I put in a new card. So I can play tonight and I will Borrow a friends PC to upload the save.
