interestingly slow start...
remind me never to get a civ without a scout ...
i think al lfuture games there has to be a balancing effect put in so all civs have the same unique attributes...

The balancer series of mods did this by giving every civ a pioneer unit that moved three spaces and ignored terrain improvements. The civs with expansionist traits could build more the others only got the one that they started with.

good idea, but by jsut choosing civs with same starting stuff should be easier without a mod

having never played a pbem game before, are there any rules regarding allainces and such like.
i take it there should be no swapping maps till contact made. and no organsing a meeting at certain palces.
however once contact made is it just open slather to all sorts of agreements.

I will be travelling for the next five days and i may have hindered access to the internet. I will attempt to check mail at least once a day.
some good way to overcome initial slow start of pbem games is to have a prapered by some person who actually does not play a scenario and in it already set like two setlers and maybe additional two worrior units. It can significantly speed up a game. there is then less "empty" turns where nothing happens. Also such referee (this person creating a scenario) may check if all players have appropriate starting locations. Pbems are longer taking games and they are worth such effort i think

We can set this type of scenario using the editor and giving all starting players extra units at the start. Then just have all players involved install copies of the new .bix file and play the scenario as normal pbem game with the addition of the extra units. If not adding additional units this could be easily accomplished by editing the normal game .bix and renaming it pbem set-up or something. If doing so it would be nice to make the scenario adify the snOOpys terrain X that way it looks more visually appealing.
