No, I use the Zalman 750g pure copper one. It, too, is virtually noiseless. 20dB in silent mode, 25dB in full mode. It's always in silent for me, works fine...

The last time I ran 3DMark03 was in early october, and I got 6313 without the overclocked CPU and stuff.

The P4 and Athlon 64 are clearly superior in these tests, but lets not forget your chips cost about 2 and a half times what mine did.

Ok, did this on a normal PC (IE had a brouwser window open and some programs running in the background, bios is currently set at default (had some problems last week, and haven't bothered to re-set them))

Only thing is drivers, which I'm sure you've checked. Plus my score for PCMark was with a slightly overclocked Radeon to 400/350 or thereabouts, so maybe try that.
I suppose you should also check your BIOS and make sure 8x is enabled, and check the other AGP settings haven't set themselves in a strange manner.

Btw if anyone cares I got the 74GB Raptor in the end. I figure it'll last a while, and I can get a second one at some point in the future when the prices come down a bit.

Don't enable it, it's unstable for both ATI and Nvidia.
Do enable AGP FastWrites, though.

I've got the BIOS set for 8X APG with an arpeture size of 256. Are there APG settings in XP as well that need to be engaged (I found the 8x APG in XP but have found nothing on arpeture size in XP). The thing that bothers me the most is that a column in pc mark says my arpeture size is 0. I still have not look under the hardware tab...maybe it is there and still needs set-up
My mobo comes with a windows APG driver that says to install after the video driver??? (Do they mean XP video drivers, or Ati??)
I did this and I guess I can try reinstalling Cat 4.1 (now they have 4.2) drivers for the 9800.
The only other bios settings that I have for this are the voltage levels (for GPU and mem).

I think that you made a good choice...
Something new and better is always right around the corner, but I think that the Raptors will be competetive for quite sometime, espescially after RAIDed

SC,
I'm sure that you've checked already, but do you have it set for 8x and fastwrite in the ATI software as well?

Assuming you mean right click on screen, select properties, settings tab, advanced button, and then there is a tab (can't remember) that you set for apg 8x and fastwrite (both are set).

I don't know why PCMark would think your aperture size is 0. The BIOS setting should surely be 64 or 128 though right?
It was only 800 points difference between the scores......did you try a slight overclock to see if you could close it?

No I set it in the bios at 256 (max), since it can be up to half your main mem size.
The stupid voltage setting in the bios are set to auto, what are the stock values? Maybe the stupid mobo is UV the video card?

It does look as if my procesor is the bottleneck.
Each change amount to a small improvement on CPU score and a larger one for my graphics.( without tweaking my GPU in any way)
