One of the few good things that ever came out of the entire apple corporation that realted to computers was the original space invaders game on their aplle IIgs junkers. The black and white motehrs from the 70's. That was an awesome game! It might, be "old school" by your standards, or not as "interactive" as some otehr gaems, but it could kee pme up for nights on end.

You CAN turn the speed faster...
BTW, in response to the original post, I've been tinkering with MoO3 for the last week or so, and I have it running like a DREAM of a 4x game now. Get my modified spreadsheets by request.

And here's the second part.
I reccommend a visit to www.Moo3Mods.com to get a new GUI as well.
These mods are reworkings of other people's reworkings. There's far too many changes to list. None of these mods will muck up your install, and you simply delete the .txt files to restore the defaults.
NOTE : Some of these need patch 1.2.5 to work, but you'd have that anyway, right.
I also have the "big ship graphics" enabled.
That just involves renaming some files, but it causes BIG slowdowns. Want that too, anyone?

Actually, I haven't played it in a while. It was a big disappointment, and I have so many other games to play, but I'll give it a try when I get bored of KOTOR (just started js), CoD (js), Halo (not started ns), Diablo2 (ns), NOLF2 (ns), NHL 2004 (ns).
By the way, you would really love Kotor.

I know. As discussed on that other forum though, I'm waiting for the price drop that is sure to come soon. I'll kill myself if I pay 50 euros and then a week later its on sale for 20.

EU2 is better than EU, but in both it does come down to who you play and how you play them. If you want massive wars then there are countries that will oblige. Others will be tranquil for centuries unless you declare war.

Same as HOI. Play as Brazil - you can simply make a cup of tea and watch the war happen.

Brazil doesn't have to be a slow game.
I once conquered south america as Argentina, and had plans on grabing a piece of France for myself but the germans went through them too quickly.

Stars looks interesting.
I was a big fan of VGA planets, but had to stop playing it because it took up too much time. It was PBEM only which was part of the problem.
Now that was a game, launching an invasion took real planning because the game had depleatable resources, including fuel. Protecting freighters and tankers, trying to get fuel and replacement torps and fighters to the front lines made war really strategic.

Well I emailed a demo link to myself at home so I'll try it when I am done work.
I don't know why I never got around to trying it before, probably was playing something and just forgot about it.

I was worse than that. I still have it installed on my work machine. It runs in a window, very boss proof, especially someone like me who always has BL of things on me task bar.

I found it was very convient to be able to run Stars! on at least a 19" monitor. Then you could fit all the windows with none being set to minimal.
