Question for you guys.
I'm told the following story that is true, although I've never seen it.
The story is that the last player in a multiplayer game can make one-unit movers move two tiles by using the go to command. So, you point your archer at a square two moves away, click the go to command, and the archer moves one tile during your turn and one tile after your turn -- but before the next player's move.
This produces the strange result that a spearman can invade an opponents land for two tiles and end up, for example, on a mountain.
Is this two-move possibility a reality in multiplayer?
Thanks, Russ

This bug/expliot exists, and can be an advantage. Of course sometimes, if the last player is regularly uses the GoTo command, it can cause unintended errors. I'm not sure if version 1.22 fixed the bug.
One thing to note, extra move is not totally free. It counts as your next move; so if you try to move the the following turn, the computer will not allow it (unit has already been moved). In any case, it can be used illegally for defensive reasons. As you said, you can "race" to a strong defensive position, a poorly protected city, or a strategic tile.
I am the last player in 2 games; one of which has justed ended (Double or Nothing - Won by Hot Enamel). My problem is that I regularly use the GoTo command in all games. So early in my PBEM games, I "inadvertently" used this exploit. With HE, I used it early on to surround an invading unit; fortunately it did not have any significant impact on the game.
On another occasion, I was moving multiple units to a strategic location. I accidently moved a stack to a space that was one space forward (exposed). I think the stack was 2 Infantry and 3 workers. Hot Enamel busted me on using the exploit, but he easily dispatched the poorly defended, and exposed stack.
When Hot Enamel caught me, I was very embarrassed and this pretty much cured me of my PBEM GoTo habit.
So if you are the first player in a MP game, be on the look out for the last player using this trick.

Hi guys,
I'm compiling a list of exploits and had a question about this one. Would this exploit apply to anyone using 'GoTo' against a player that moves before them?
For example, player number 3 sends a unit into #2's territory using GoTo. The unit moves once during #3's turn. Will it then move again after the last player (#6) completes his turn?

As explained to me, it's only the last player in a multiplayer game.

I don't think so. I have never heard of that happening, but I have never really tracked it.
Have you looked at the CFC known cheat thread.

In CFC, I found the following note concerning version 1.22
Note that the v1.22 patch does NOT support saved games from pre-v1.22 versions.

Looks like 1.15 dual installation works for now at least.

Thanks lm, I'm looking for any lists like that. If you know of anything more current or PBEM specific, let me know. (I do know about the one by Donegal in this forum already...)
That warning about the 1.22 patch was just a blanket disclaimer Firaxis put in to cover the unforseen- they actually expected most PBEMs to be upgradable. As it turns out any game where none of the tribes have the Radio tech yet should upgrade to 1.22, at least according to the almost-always-accurate-alexman. He gave a simple work-around for those games in this thread.

I just read the thread I guess you are refering to, and is it really necessary? there are only minimal changes when you still have the old tech tree which almost is the only new thing introduced in 1.22

but this game is really hooting along
we started 19 Feb 2004
have completed 33 turns in 57 days
that is 0.6 turns per day
------------------------
if we do a restart in v1.22, could we then start with several settlers and a few workers, to get it up to speed asap
