IWS XXXII: Stupid Powers of Two.
Greetings all for another round of the fine old country tradition of I'm With Stupid XXXII, which, sadly, is not a prime number. Despite the trials of our composite times, we get by somehow. For those joining us for the first time, a "classic" rules C&P from days gone by:
Quote:
|
All answers are allowed. However, scoring is not based on what the "correct" answer is . It is based on how many other participants choose the same answer. So, for example, if I ask what fruit is the greatest, and 17 people say "banana," each person who answered "banana" will get 17 points for that question. If someone says "mango," and they're the only one, they will get 1 point for that question.
However, the answer doesn't have to even fit the criteria. If two people answer "I hate George W. Bush" when asked what fruit is the greatest, they will still get two points for that question.
Your individual score will be the total of your scores for all questions.
|
Just be sure not to post the answers in the thread; PM them to me. Also note that no response at all will net you 0 points, so be sure to be careful and answer every question.
1. What did you forget this morning?
2. What is the best prime number?
3. Who is the world's #2 Super-Villain?
4. The Finns are invading! What branch of the military do you join to protect your country? (Or, for Nordically-inclined posters of an eastern Scandanavian variety, what branch are you in to invade OUR freedom-loving countries?)
5. What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink? Be specific.
6. Who was President of Poland from 1795-1808? (This is common knowledge, after all.)
7. On a scale of 3-18, how would you rate your Strength? Assume that the distribution across society is the one given by summing 3 randomized numbers from 1-6.
8. What is the finest prank ever pulled?
9. What will be the next Wonder of the World/Secret Project constructed (in the "real" world)?
10. Gleep! Espel urgle mortant! Murcassat mulprandis?
...
No, that's not the question, you silly fools. What language was I most likely speaking in?
11. Apolyton has proven what the hardest word to spell in the English language is. Under 7 letters, of course, to prevent this from getting too silly. What is it?
12. What "supernatural" creature is most likely to actually have existed?
13. A bonus question for the observant among you. Do NOT post of this question's existence to the thread on pain of... something bad. How many questions are in this IWS?
The deadline is Sunday the 22nd. Go to! (Reminder: This is a crosspost in the OT as well. But give it a shot.)

Ras: True. I realized after I posted the list that there was one question in particular that was a wee bit too OT-centric. That said... perhaps we can spice things up with more Other Games references later (what racer crashes the most?).
Also, this is a duh, but if you aren't interested, that's okay... just don't send in answers. Or, for more humor value, send in complete mocking answers. That's what I do for most IWS's, actually. I just decided that I wanted to win one and sent in mostly serious answers the last two times (although even my winning entry included time-travelling to stop Gorbachev from being possessed by evil banana spirits, for all of one point.).

For what it's worth: 7 people skipped #13, and 1 person skipped both question 1 and 11, why they don't add up to 20.
20. 23 skywalker
19. 24 The Andy-Man
18. 25 Stuie
17. 26 Ben Kenobi
16. 28 Theben
15. 31 Smiley
13. 32 Boshko
13. 32 DataAeolus
12. 33 self biased
11. 34 St. Leo
10. 36 Guynmeyer
8. 38 Oncle Boris
8. 38 Rasputin
7. 40 The Emperor Fabulous
6. 46 VJ
Some more notes. self biased did excellently, but he missed the "big 2." Most of the questions were pretty balanced- quite a few where there were two top answers, both with 5 or so. However, there was some pretty strong (and I must say surprising) unanimity on both the language and the number of questions. I suppose Martian's close relationship to Finnish confused some people, but nobody noticed that the lack of accents or little two-dotty thingies wasn't just American laziness, it was intentional. In fact, I think all the Finns who sent in replies agreed that it was Finnish. How odd. Gangerolf was amazing, being one point away from the top answer for #1 & #8, and choosing the most popular answer on every other question... well, except the language one. Which was pretty big.
4. 50 kassiopeia
4. 50 Wernazuma III
Shortly after I posted this, I wanted to remove question 11- it'd be too obvious an OT reference. I mean, everybody would remember the impossibility of spelling Theben, right? Weirdly enough, Theben himself skipped that question, and only kassiopeia figured it out- and got his reward of 1 point. How cruelly life cuts us at times.
Also, no one got my answer for Number 1- lunch, of course. Haven't you forgotten to bring your packed lunch before?
3. 52 Shi Huangdi
2. 54 Gangerolf
Guess not. Anyway, congratulations to...
1. 59 Skanky Burns
Considering that the max was 64, that's pretty amazing. Excellent work & congrats!
