O=oil slick
Cars 2 5 6 3 massive pileup. Jonny hits oil and slides through the accident ticking car 6
In all honesty I did not have preset conditions for a massive pileup like this.
SO I did my best based on random rolls for placement. I'll have to think this one through better for future accidents. (especially if it happens again next turn)
NOTE: OIL SLICKS WILL APPEAR UNDER CARS 2,5, and 6 the next turn.
The next lap just got more interesting.
Skanky and ADG are in control.
The good Doctor didn't quit catch up to be involved, but his next turn will be interesting.
speed,WC
1. Spaced Cowboy 1,5 *
2. Alva 1,1 *
3. Jamski 2,6 *
4. Skanky Burns 4,3 *
5. Jonny 1,4 *
6. Drogue 2,5 *
7. ADG 4,2 *
8. DrSpike 4,5 *
This will hurt all cars, so the ref deems it plain old stupidity.
The first major turn has really caused some more problems. I didn't think that Fore-shadowing meant the next turn. THE CROWD has got their money's worth today>

I thought I'd hit somebody, because I didn't think I could avoid it. But with all those squares being taken, I had little choice it seems I think I've just lost it. With two oil patches in front of me and I can't get round that corner without using all my wildcards or going down to speed 1 Oh well.
However, the thing I don't get is how Johnny can be in front of me, since I didn't actually crash into him, because with no crashes, I would have been in front of him, not on the same square. Surely I hit alva (and possibly Jamski) and Johnny was just behind us, so got hit because one had to go behind the other? If so, I don't get how Johnny could end up in front. Does it count as a normal crash when you don't end on the same square as someone, but they hit someone else so move back one? Or does it count as two seperate crashes? I'm just a bit confused

Can I just clarify.......can we go through oil or not? Or is the same as crashes where it's only the last point that matters.
And I'm not sure what happened to Jonny there. He hit the oil and then got involved in the other pile-up?
Sorting out the new positions must have been a nightmare. I guess having me right behind meant you had to string them in a line ahead of me.

I'll post orders when DrSpike's question's answered. In most crashes, isn't the oilslick under the second car, not the first? And are the other drivers in the crash affected by that oil (IIRC they aren't usually in crashes)?

Orders sent. You know, the race would probably go a lot faster if we didn't need to bring our speed down to 2 just to get through these turns.

As stated earlier, I had not anticipated this type of event, so I calced the crashes in a random order for placement. An oil slick appears at each crash point. In this case there were actually three crash point hence three oil slicks. Jonny's car was spinning (right) through the crashes so I randomized where he ended up. I'm not thrilled about how I calced it, but I did the best I could. And As I said, I will be better prepared for the next pile up. (especially if it happens this turn. )
Yes you can drive through oil slicks but your car speed will be reduced in half and you will spin randomly left or right or straight, If you drive through 2 on the same turn, (which I never originally thought would happen), I guess I'll apply the rule twice.
I did the best I could and randomized everything in order not to single anybody out. It was not easy.
That was a cool crash though.

Ok thanks for clearing up my oil slick question.......I guess I'd better try to avoid them.
I think I see now.........2 crashed, then, others crashed into one of the crashees ( ) after you had replaced them, creating a new crash. And Jonny ruined it further.

Actually pretty damn acurate. I had no contigency plan prior for dealing with the domino effects.

The second lap is going to be so slow, because there will be very few WCs left to aid braking and accelerating for tight corners, so everyone will go round really slowly.
I reckon Skanky'll win this round of the championship.
I notice that no-one has dared to use your short-cut. Obviously that's because you've filled it with sand traps to slow the drivers down, but maybe they'll risk it on the second lap to try to catch Skanky and ADG. I certainly hope so.

No, we were given WC from the start. Giving more is bad for those that decided to save them.
And yes, the shortcut requires at least 2 or 3 WC to get to it, and especially after that corner, is just not worth it.

Rah,
You did not mention me as being part of the accident, but since I gave orders to move to the oilspot two squares to the left of my current position, how did I end up where I am? I other words, how did I go straight left and not at a 45 degree angle left? (Or is that what you mean in the rules by sliding left, straight, or right).

SPACED, RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT.
You hit the oil slick and slid RIGHT, into the pile up. I originally added you to the accident, but when all was said and done you would have ended up farther behind then where you started your turn. That didn't pass any reasonability test. So I went back and calced you sliding through the accident and just being clipped to continue your slide and moved you to the other side of the accident (even distance wise though)
It was very complicated and as stated, I calced the whole thing twice before the results made any sense.
When executing the move phase, I try to focus just on the car numbers, and believe it or not (age helps here) I don't go back to refer to who is who until I'm recording the changes. This hopefully minimizes any possible bias during event resolution.
THIS IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS

On the subject of additional WC's. I had been considering it prior to it being mentioned here. Both sides of the arguement have already been presented here.
My thought has been that this track requires many WC to negotiate at any type of speed, and those that didn't use then to get off to a good start would be able to use them to catch up. BUT having extras will always be an advantage as long as I don't give out too many more.
SO my thoughts were to give any driver in the second lap 2 additional WCs as they start the second lap. My thinking is that it will speed up the race a touch, but not be so many that those that have hoarded them would not feel betrayed since they would be able to do some real slick driving on the second lap if they got two more to go with what they've hoarded.
Since it will be awhile since anyone gets near the lap marker. (damn, i made this track too long) I still have some time to consider it. I'll have a decision prior to it being it sight so people can plan. OPINIONS anybody.

rah: I'd rather go without additional ones, because of hording, however it could take a while. You could shorten the track now, and end it at the reach of what we can see?

I can agree with not giving any extra out, or giving up to 2 extra once people cross into their second lap. More than that though, and it seems to have been pointless to have hoarded them in the first place.
Of course, I may support slightly more WC bonuses depending on the length and severity of the track. We want to finish the race before 2005.
EDIT: I would still like to have a larger track though. Then skill rather than pure luck will play a role in people's places.

Yes! 2 Bonus WCs would be a good thing!
Crashes at higher speed are far more entertaining for the crowds.

I did try to make the track larger in a lot of places. But A wide open track means who ever gets an early lead can't be caught, so I did add some real tight areas. (the worst you haven't seen yet, if you can believe that)
