What do you name the continents on the map of planet?
I have not come across any widely accepted standard for naming the continents on the map of planet, and have not really settled on one for myselft. Anybody know of any halfway common standards? I assume there may be some conventions among mulitplayers.

I call them like this:
The continent with the Ruins on it: Runa Continent
The continent with the Manifold Nexus on it: Nekkes Continent
The continent with the Boreholes on it: Boroli Continent

I call them "my home continent," "my second continent," "previously Lal's," "previously Morgan's," "Spartans," "previously Yang's," and "unclaimed."

In my latest game, the Gaians were wiped out early, and the Believers were reduced to one base. Yes, there was a continent that no one expanded into, and I don't know why not.

Not to give up Lefty, I believe that there are some reasonably straight-forward and appropriately descriptive continent names that are used at least by somewhat more than one person, if not everyone. While I have no idea where I've seen them used, I do remember that there is little difficulty figuring out which continents are which with these names, which IIRC, are no more complicated than some of the sugestions above, things like size shape location contents.

Pholus Ridge usually becomes whatever faction I'm playing.

So PK=Democracy ridge (but it's usualy Ridge of the People)

Manifold Nexus I tend to leave it how it is.

it'll usually be whatever faction I am.........

I dont belive their are any well used names. I suspect most peole dont even use names for them. But if I had to come up with some on the spot.

The Large Continent containing the Freshwater Sea, Pholus Ridge and the Ruins I would call Douhnut Land because of its shape.

The Middle Continent Containing Garland Crater and the Uranium Flats would be Club Land because its shape reminds me of a Clubs on a playing card.

The Biggest Continent withe BoreHoles and the Monsoon Jungle is Big Land because its the Biggest and best continent (if you can control all of it you got the game in the bag!)

The small northern one in the Ocean which is too small to get any kind of develoment going on is called Runt Land cause the faction their is the Runt of them all.
