Presentin the new republic
My choices of OEDO years was 300ad or 380ad. To facilitate the production of the market I chose 380ad
260
Sell Barraks for 40G
Change production to Barraks
Buy remaining shields for 40G (Lucky break )
Switch to Market place.
Disband two warriiors into market.
280
300
320
MARKETPLACE
Forget the "no diplomats" rule and bergin building one
340
Realize I have broken the rules and switch to warriors that will buld next turn, maybe we can disband into something more usefull.
360
Warriors build and switch to WOW
REVOLUTION
380
REPUBLIC
Set Tax rate and citizens to celebrate and save game with "End turn" flashing.
The kingdom of Zedd has ended and the new republic city of Apolytonia is born. It is now time to vote on ministers and get this game really moving.

ah - republic and a marketplace of course now masonry and construction should probably be given higher priority or we won't get much extra benefit from being a republic (not being able to celebrate past 7 or grow past 8)
long live the Consul

As science minister I should know this, but what exactly are we researching at the moment?
We seem to be building the Oracle, and this had better be a placeholder for something more worthwhile.

Depending on what the next tech is and how soon it would take to get, can I suggest Xinning as a possible method to employ here, especially without Aqueducts.

based on the provided save, it appears we are researching trade (certainly can't argue with that).
I kinda wonder about the choice of the oracle myself, as by selling the barracks, we now could build barracks and resell if need be. also, by selling the barracks, it would generate some extra gold so we can operate at a budget deficit and increase science on non-xinning turns. do see 2 potential reasons for the oracle as the placeholder - 1)will have enough shields so that if the next build is a unit, it would be (slightly) cheaper to just switch to a unit, rather than switch and rushbuy (saves 5 gp per 10 shields). as pointed out though, this would be at the cost of science depending on how long it takes 2) we want to build a wonder next (probably not the best option as we have caravans available through trade shortly)

Can we figure out how many beakers trade needs, and, from looking back through the turns at beakers per turn figure out how many turns we need? Then we can know whether a pre-build for a Caravan would be the best option right now.

Had I used more sense I would have started barracks to switch to Aquaduct after construction, I was so eager to get to republic that I just chose the oracle as a place holder. Normally I would build Diplomats wich are against the rules, and the only other units available are settlers Warriors and Phlanx
The Idea, however WAS to build up shields for an Aquaduct.

Is the rule against building diplomats, or just using them? Depending upon the speed of my tech, then I have used dips as early camels - you only get 15 shields admittedly, but you don't have to put them into just wonders.

You know, I think its highly unlikely that anyone is going to come and attack us, so why do we need those two other warriors? They're just taking up shields, and we could do with some more, now we're a republic.
If we were attacked, I'm sure we could hold them off until we make another unit. And they'll only attack with one unit of theirs anyway...
Just a thought. Long live the Republic

When we have only one city, it might be foolish to risk a surprise attack from a more-advanced civ...

But to a more advanced civ, what difference would a few warriors make anyway?

If a Horseman or Chariot rolled up to the cit gates, I'd rather have a couple of Warriors than nothing.

We're playing OCC at the moment.
If another civ rolls up, then we give them as many techs as we need to get a peace treaty with them, and to obtain their map. Then we send our camels in their direction for nice pay-offs, which we use to build troops to send in their direction to antagonise them into breaking the treaty and declaring war. We win.
Since we've only got one city, then the barbs cannot even damage any of our units.

I'm not experienced at OCC, which is why I've stayed out of most of the planning involving it. When the game becomes more "normal" again, I will get more involved.
