Rec Commons Chess Tournament - Prelim: Pande vs. Geo
Ok. Play is simple: Post your moves here. Any notation you agree on. Post all moves, and bold the latest one. For example:
e4 e5
d4 xd4
With xd4 being the current move.
First one to post is white.
This is an official thread, do not spam. I'll GM it, unless there are any objections, which simply means keeping track of the positions, and solving any disputes, should they arise (which is doubtful).

Serf?
Geo is white. If you need to read on notation this could help: http://misc.traveller.com/chess/begi.../notation.html
Geo's move first.

Also, you only post the square you move to.
For instance, e2-e4 is simply e4. If it can be two or more pieces, then you post the column it started on, such as ee4, or fNe4 for a knight on the f rank moving to square e4.

AFAIK both notations are allowed. The longer one is handier for finding the mistake just in case you made a writing error.

Whichever notation they wish to use is fine with me.
Geo: Your move first, starting fresh.
Game on

Ok, I'll start again, sorry for the mistake.
Been quite a while since I played.
I prefer the longer notation, and I continue to include the piece I move for clarity.
Pawn: c2-xc3

Geo: I'm not sure what notation you're using (could you give me a link to an explanation) but in most I know an x signifies a take, which is impossible on the first turn.
If you using that notation, please bold the whole part of your move, and do not bold the previous moves that have been made.

Can you post the previous moves please, so we can keep track. For instance Pande's would be:
1. c2-c3 e7-e5
And for example, if Geo's next move was Ng1-Nf3, then he would put:
1. c2-c3 e7-e5
2. Ng1-Nf3
But hey, however you want

Geo: Taking a piece is usually marked with an x. For example:
d3-xe4 marks that you've taken a piece.
If you put someone in check you use a +:
d3-e4+
You don't have to use this of course, but might be handy to make sure there are no errors.

Geo: That last move needs to be written as Qa4-xe4+, because you've put Pande in check. Nice game so far
