and why exactly civ3? i mean, they had a sort of 'qualifying' round only with sid's games, and civ3 won, i'm aware of this, but i thought that civ2 would fare better than it did.

I agree. Civ2 has made more of a difference in the gaming world than civ3.

Civ2 is too old for many of the posters at that site. They never heard of it or played it. You just can't take it too seriously.

Well, it seems that myself and others interpreted your statement to be the opposite of what you meant then.
I thought your joke was, because I hate civ 3 so much, I'm gonna vote for a game I don't know.

Sim City 2000 could not beat CivIII, it couldn't even beat CivII. Even Sim City 3000 couldnt do it.

Duty done.... and a tought one!
SimCity and Civilization are two of my favorite games. Two games of quality... If I have kids one day, I will be glad to see my kids playing this games.
See ya

I voted, but I think the poll will let you vote more than once. I accidently hit it a second time and it never said anything.
I did not check the counts, so it may not have been added.

Voting twice
You'll notice that the cookies that they store include your IP address. So to vote again, you would need to go to another machine in order to have a different IP address.
Not that we would stoop to that level for a popularity contest... (hehehe).

Vote for Metal Gear Solid
P.S. Metal Gear Solid is only 190 votes behind, and will be an easier win in the Regional Final...

Well, we should vote whoever would be an easy prey for CivIII in the next match (MGS right now).

6 hours to go and looking good.
At 14h00 GMT (which must be 6h00 PST?) the votes stand at:
3255 Civ III
2397 Sim City 2000
Thank you to Dan for posting the message on the News page - our lead went from 400 to over 850 in that 6 hour bracket.
The really encouraging thing is that Grand Theft Auto's lead has only increased from 200 to 327 in that time. And more importantly, we have more votes:
3094 GTA: Vice City
2767 Metal Gear Solid
If we pencil in Tuesday week (the 23rd) in our diaries, we're in with a decent chance. After that we'll be up against Tetris or Super Mario Bros. 3, who got 4322 and 3886 votes respectively in their victories. They'll be tough, because, their region's match-ups (Arcade games) have been getting an average of around 6.5k votes, to our Liberty City's 6k. (By the way, what a silly name for OUR category, which should have been called CIVILIZATION!)
