If and when an Apolyton subscription system is implemented and launched, a new thread in this forum will most certainly be created to announce and discuss it from there.

My belief is that this is the whole key to it being a successful endeavor.
96 so far are showing interest. Mark, can you give us an update on where this stands in your thinking?

In the extra goodies : I remember that an increased avatar size has been suggested, but this goes as well by an increased avatar file size?.
I just wanted to use the attached gif as my new avatar, I made it with the pixels limits (80x80) but it's 23,000 something bytes.
So, as one of the goodies, include - or clarify - that you'll get also an gnerous avatar file size upgrade, please .

I managed to get the file to under 10k, so this one you are able to use now. A higher limit on the number of bytes an avatar can take would be great though.

just had a look at how many users are registered:
49514
So 170 votes makes a 0.3433 % participation of all users. Sounds like a good figure (at least for politicians ).

A volunteer subscription system for ad-free Apolyton browsing and miscellaneous goodies is still being considered. This thread continues to give both Markos and myself material to consider in this regard.

Well, take the example of the Civ3 Intersite Democracy Game. Mark is our leader name, Dan was our first worker. The analogy is that Dan does all the work and Mark gets all the glory.

At this point, you have more than half the respondants willing to pay, and three quarters of those able to pay by the designated method -- sounds like it's worth a shot to me.

I agree... but 74 members (43,27%) are not willing to pay just to get rid off pop-ups or to get some small bonuses.
Would the administrators tell me that it is no more possible to keep the ACS free because of the investments needed to maintain it, I would of course react differently and be willing to pay.

Who cares if 45% don't want to pay at this current point in time? Or ever?
As long as there is sufficient interest to make implementing this worthwhile then all is good.

Democracy seems to have a different meaning according to the people, as far as I am concerned I have the weakness to consider every one opinion matters... including yours.

This is not about democracy. It's not so that if No wins the poll it won't happen. That doesn't make sense since it's an optional feature. This poll was (presumably) intended to see if a sufficiently large number of people would be willing to pay to justify the effort of making it possible; how many people would not be willing to pay (whether there are 7, 70 or 70000) is completely irrelevant. With at present 97 Yes votes, I'd say it warrants the effort to implement this option (but of course it's not my call to make).

There should be 2 NOs: one "I don't want to pay" option, and one "I don't want to see this even as an option" option.

One more question for Mark & Dan. . .
Could you have a price to make an entire forum ad-free? I'd probably be willing to pay to have the Clash forum and web site ad-free for everyone if it were something like $100/yr or less.
BTW I voted Yes.
