Low scores
Grrrrr....I've had this game for almost a year but I still cant get my score over 1,000 even on the easiest level (unlike Civ 2). I try not to fight and just go for the Space Race victory and still can't get a good score. Any help?

Yep. Fight. Do it early, often and quickly.
On the easier levels, you don't have to fight so much because it takes the AI so long to expand. The human, on the other hand, can expand quickly. Do that first and wipe out the MUCH smaller AI's when you have taken them for all they are worth.

Aren't the scores weighted towards the higher levels? That is, you get higher scores from the same result if you are playing on greater difficulty? Why not try moving up a level or 2? I've never had any trouble getting above 1000, and that's without actually finishing.

Score can be increased by playing at higher levels, all things being equal.
Increase the size of the map will up the score by letting you aquire more land.
Going for a conquest or domination will give you a higher score by playing out to 2050. This means more land and pop and tech.
If you want to play as you are and not start wars, maybe it is a function of how you manage your empire.
Post a few saves so an evaluation can be done to see if any strategey changes can be useful.
BTW you may find out that a few wars here and there can be fun.
I often play a no starting wars mode. A true one, where I do not try to force them into decalring and do not try to keep them at wars beyond the point they want to stop. Just go about my business and let them determine when a war should start and end.
Playing the same way all time is less attractive, so I like to change up once in a while.
So if you want to some help, post a save and the fellow travelers will jump in.

You are focusing on the wrong issue. As others here have said, score is a function of various things such as map size and style of play. Absolute score is not so important. Score relative to your AI competitors is the important factor.
Post a save so we can get a feel for your game. It may be that you need to start moving up in levels and expanding your strategy to strive towards different victory objectives, which will also have an indirect effect on the way your score accumulates.

My opinion: forget about scores. If you have fun with the game, that's worth 10'000 times the highest score you can get by playing a boring game...

I always wonder why someone would take the time to register, post a question and then never return?

17n0n72 what size map are you using in CivIII? Like I said, if you post a save some time in the ancient era, we can see how things are going.
