What are favorite/preferred MP game settings/parameters?
All this talk & tournments but no where do you all say what ALL settings are, particularily level of difficulty.
What are the typical / preferred / required / most popular / best parameters everyone using?
- difficulty
- map (ALL choices)
- 2x prod &/or 2x move
- victory conditions
- turn based or simul
- civ choice
- turn times
- special rules / gentlemen's agreements
- voice chat &/or typing only
- etc. etc. etc
There'd be alot more players available if ya'll would cut thru the learning curve for us & help us be a least semi-worthy opponents.
I'm sure i'm not the only new-to-CivIII MP (tho in my case, very experienced in CivII) player that would like to know what we can expect / should prepare for in a CivIII MP game. Or tourney, Mark.
Don't mind learning the "hard" way, but we'd be alot more fun to beat if we could at least be prepared to put up a good contest.

Thanks alot for all the great response & help I/we have received here... NOT!
Guess good old Civ multiplayer ain't what it used to be.
Shame it seems to have died.
So long Civ world. It was a great run while it lasted.

The problem might be that you're posting in the wrong place - Apolyton's MP community is rather small. There's closer to 1,000 of us over at the ladder, though.
I only drop by here once a week or so -
most MP games are 2/3 hours, elimination style (1-3 cities) pangea, with no AIs and variable conditions. Drop by the ladder and find out what MP is all about.

 Thanks Freid.
Will chek it out. Tho sounds like none last beyond BC. Was hping to find some longer term situ's / players that want to develop all this great game's aspects, not just find, build-a-stack, & then kill. Like having the AI's also, as they seem to in tourneys here. Luv to work them, especially since they are SO much better in this latest version... long, accurate memories, & pretty tough negotiators. Amazing to me how they program that stuff.
Any other thots &/or preferences out there?

Well, for the AI, you're on your own, but if you're looking for full-length games, we refer to those as "epic" games on the ladder, and have a forum set up specifically for those and those alone. They're quite popular and many meet and continue week after week.
(And as an aside for you PBEM junkies, we've just opened an area on the ladder for those, too - so you can join the ladder and play PBEM with some of our MP fiends, and maybe dabble in the real stuff every now and again. Ooo. The scandal!)

 Excellent, thanks again.
I knew there must be a few good, hard core players that enjoy more than quikies.
