Here is my desktop. Hope the owners won't be too offended. The nudity is, errr, artistic.

That article seems to be talking about the old Finder. Some of the things he complains about have been rectified in the current version. And it looks like Apple has listened to him, as the new Finder is much more itunes like.

Huh? It looks nothing like the Panther finder. What, exactly, looks similar?

Evidently, it's not as original as you are, seeing as the two look nothing alike.
That said, I'm not a fan of the new interface shown in the screenshots for Longhorn. Fortunately, they are easily set back to Classic mode, and, more importantly, those screenshots aren't of Avalon and Aero, which are only built in the HCI labs at MS right now. All of the released ones still use GDI+ and placeholders.
Their rationale for not releasing the Avalon/Aero ones to the public, is that it's possible for Apple to once again copy it and release it about a year before MS does.

That's about the most minor thing.
Anyway, who cares about software that no one will actually be able to buy until 2007.

What, exactly, is similar about the two? How on Earth do you draw the conclusion that MS is ripping Apple's Finder UI off?

Life is good - I went to get some new wallpaper and I see one of my composited pics has made the Apple Collection this week.
Anyway, this is not it.

I have, and I honestly have no idea why you think MS is ripping off the Finder.
If it's so obvious, why is it so difficult for you to say it?

Two points...
One, I'm glad to see that Aggie has a folder devoted to me on his desktop. I love you, too.
Two, use of random Chinese characters for decorative purposes is ****ing gay. Do you laugh at hilarious Engrish phrases? If so, please understand that you're doing the same thing...

1. That's not brushed metal
2. What's being seen in the screenshots has been repeatedly and clearly labeled as placeholders. What he's referring to is called "Plex" is will not be part of a shipping Longhorn system.
The current screenshots are of Plex on GDI+.
Longhorn will ship with Aero on Avalon.

I don't understand what it says, but it looks ****ing cool. That's all I really care about.
I do laugh at Engrish, but only insofar that I know what it means.
Are you saying the characters in the picture are poor Chinese?

Wouldn't you consider random English words displayed on a desktop to be poor English?

By the way, the desktop pic was a takeoff of The Matrix.
You don't see me throwing a hissy fit because the 0s and 1s in The Matrix don't make any sense.

No, because they are obviously not intended to be a sentence or in prose. It becomes art at that point.

I see somebody objecting to it and calling it "****ing gay".
As far as I care that's a hissy fit, seeing as it doesn't concern you at all, yet you still felt the need to object to it.
