Best debater award
I'd like to run a best debater contest.
Anyone can nominate three OTers by posting in this thread, excluding himself. In a week from now, I will start a poll with the, say, 5 persons who got the most nominations, and the winner will be declared 'Best debater'.
Note that if you make it to the top 5, you can vote for yourself.
Keep in mind that unknown settlers posting in this thread will be suspiciously regarded.
EDIT: Would the people who post in this thread, please give a list of one to three names for nominations? Counting is an HELL as it is right now.
And, BTW, if you can't nominate for X reasons, please state it clearly, so that I don't waste time trying to make something out of your posts.
Thanks.
**********
Here is a preliminary round of results:
MtG owns everyone at 12
Spiffor kicks in at 10
GePap scores an honorable 7
Boris Godunov and Sikander follow at 5
Fez and Adam Smith are at 4
Imran, Doc Strangelove and Agathon are at 3
Zylka,, Thorn, Ned, JohnT, Sava, Berzerker, Skywalker and Chegitz have received 2 nominations.
Flatulus and Buttnugget ( ) also have 2.
20 persons have been nominated once.
It looks like the fight to rank in the last two spots of the final Top 5 poll is still raging.

Since I'm still quite new, some questions: what's so great about Godunov and MtG? I've never seen them engaged in serious crossfire.

Azazel, would you please make a coherent list of 3 persons so that I can count the names when time comes?

Real Boris is a master of what I like to call the "twisted link". This theory of debating is when you use a myriad of links that support your point. "Twisted" is when the time frames don't match the argument. It compels you to not only refute his sources but to have to find your own to support your point. Very time consuming and research intensive...many just give up.
Mtg just knows his stuff. Period.

MtG has a great memory for facts, and excellent knowledge of history and a good knowledge of the law.
I haven't seen him do much in conceptual debates, but he doesn't seem interested in that sort of thing. I think that's why I've only argued with him a couple of times, since I prefer those.
Che has an excellent knowledge of Marx and is pretty fair in his expositions.
For pure wit and style it's hard to go past Molly. Some of his retorts have had me in stitches.

Uncle: actually, no I can't. I don't think that there are 3 people who are the best. I think there are a lot of great debaters.
BC: do you mean Boris, and Michael are people that can't change their opinions no matter what?
